Surviving as a Photographer in the Age of AI
AI is changing photography, I will not be pretending it is not. So easily, people can now generate polished images in seconds, so I think photographers need to get clearer about what we actually offer. Because our value was never just the final file! It is the experience, the trust, the way we guide people who feel awkward in front of the camera, the way we notice real moments before they disappear. And yes... AI can create an image, but it cannot create the real experience of being seen. I believe a real photograph carries something different because it says, “This happened.” There is also a huge difference between an image that looks beautiful and an image that holds an actual memory. I don’t think photographers need to be defensive or argue that we are “better than AI.” I think we need to communicate our value better. The human connection, the direction, the atmosphere, the memory, and the proof that a real moment happened. Because to me, photography is about helping people feel seen, remembered, and connected to a moment they do not want to lose. Curious how other photographers are talking about this with clients?

Not clients but the emotional part of this example. This is what my MIL wanted.

This was the first time I shot people but this was a very special time. I’ve only been shooting for 2 months. So much more Pom for improvement (especially with the rain hitting my lens.
New but not new.
I look forward to enjoying your work and learning as much as I can. Thank you for allowing me to join you! I’m retired and have had a couple of cameras but my attempts to learn always lead me back to my camera. I’m determined to learn as much as I can about photography and my new to me Nikon. P950. Here are a couple of shots that I took today. Wood duck and his lady.
New but not new.

@Luka Jankovic thank you!
Hello and thanks for letting me join your group.
I am a 53 year old lady who has loved photography since I was about 15. I bought my first digital camera in 2007 and have owned three now. I use a Nikon D750 now and I LOVE IT!! I really don't have a niche', I am just trying to find a way to make some money shooting photos. I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks!

PRINTS!
Has anyone ever had their photos printed in a layflat book just to have on your coffee table?? If so, what service did ya use?! Having some format glitches with mpix and im getting nervous the final print will be wrong!

A long time ago, I did Shutterfly. My photo quality was really bad, but they did a great job. I may do one after I learn more. It’s nice to have a book on the table.
Your Photography Experience
Hi there all I was wondering about your photography experience; - How long have you been a photographer and from where? - What kind of photos do you shoot? - Do you shoot with natural light or do you use flash or speedlight? - Share some photos that you are proud of? I am Riaan, I have more than a decade experience in couples and family photography from Chilliwack, BC, Canada. I am a Canon shooter and shoot with 2 or 3 Godox AD200 speedlights day or night.
