Harvesting the Inner Year
This season and time of year is one that many traditions see as a natural moment for reflection, reckoning, and renewal, I’ve been thinking about how different paths approach this period. In Judaism, for example, the High Holy Days invite a practice of teshuva, returning to our truest selves through introspection, repair, and realignment. In Taoist and ancient Chinese traditions, autumn is connected with the Metal element and the Lung and Large Intestine meridians, a time to release what no longer serves us, honor grief, and cultivate clarity. In some Indigenous teachings, this is a season to slow down, listen inward, and prepare the inner soil for the next cycle of growth. I’d love to hear from this community: how do your traditions or personal practices invite you to pause, reflect, and reset at this point in the year? Anything that you’ve been working on that might inspire others? And what do you think this season is asking of us collectively right now? @Brian Woody’s recent post about Sukkot reminded me about this!
