Hi All I have only been doing auto locksmith work for about 18 month and still have a lot to learn. The majority of keys I do is via OBD, but I have added keys via data from ECU, FEM etc. I am located in North East England.
I understand this is a timely procedure what sort of money can be charged for doing this? is there a big benefit to replacing all the locks? is that more expensive on equipment that you could be charging the customer in labour? I would be interested to here different opinions on the subject
Mark, some locks are easier to do than others. I carry HU100, HU101 and Tibee wafers as these seem to be the locks I tend to work on the most. Sometime you can buy a full lockset for a vehicle quite cheap and change the lot. At the end of the day it is down to what the customer wants to pay.
I have several programmers including the IM508, the autel is my go to as its free to use (apart from annual subscription) I did use my smart pro as my go to programmer, but once my unlimited token plan ran out, and I had to buy more tokens (at about £13 per token) I tend not to use it much. My other programmers are: TDB1000 Xhorse KTP (only recently bught this) KeyDiy KD-X4
Has anyone managed to unlock a 2023 Toyota Yaris Cross fob? So it can be used on another vehicle. I have tried with Key Tool Plus and KDX4, but the unlock option just gets you to generate another fob, and doesn't unlock the pre used one.
