Just got My 2nd Carrier!
When I started Farr Better Freight Solutions, my goal was simple: build a small, reliable carrier network and operate with professionalism every single day. LOADBOARD ACCESS
Can I get on DAT or Truckstop loadboards WITHOUT an MC or DoT number? Neither my nor my carriers' number? (I don't want to ask my carrier for their loadboard access because I don't want to look like a rookie...)

@Nick Avaness Thats a good question but I think you can turn it around as a positive and let the carrier know that you will be focused on them and you’ll use their MC # to gain access to DAT. Most carriers should know that an MC # is needed to gain access and as a dispatcher, you don’t have one. And never would…unless you wanted to start your own carrier business or become a broker…

What comes first?
Should you on board carriers first period or secure dedicated lanes with shippers first? If you on board carriers first you have to get dedicated lanes. If you secure dedicated lanes with shippers first, you have to on board carriers. What came first for you? What did you learn?

@Mykel Farr great questions! We have so much to learn, remember there are no dumb questions…. I always assumed the carrier would come first for the reasons stated, but again questions like this make us think. And that’s the importance of asking! Thanks for sharing!!

Laugh with me not at me.
Cold calling leads today. I chose to record myself so that I can examine observe and figure out what I need to work on. Made a call. Everything went well. Didn’t get a deal out of it but got email for a broker. Feeling good about this writing down the information. I look over at the phone and I never pressed record. Lol laugh with me not at me.
