@Dominic Robinson I’ve had flats in Heaton for 20yrs+ on Biddlestone/Addycombe, I personally never thought it was remotely bad where I have them & therefore saw no improvement, but in theory the council have the stats to back up the decision that selective licensing is no longer required. I’m not sure on the levels of social housing tbh 🤷🏻♂️. One other observation to make for HMO landlords in Heaton…. If you currently have a HMO, but no longer want to rent out the property this way & prefer to rent to 2 people or a family, then come April 2025, prove to the council your intentions (new tenancy agreement or in writing), then request your HMO is revoked on that basis. I mistaking applied for an HMO in 2022, had a visit from council, told me 3rd bedroom needed extending, I told them I no longer intended renting to more than 2 people or a family moving forward, they made a note of this on the HMO ….. mind you they never refunded me the diff between hmo & selective licence 🤷🏻♂️😆. Might be worth investigating for some of you in Heaton with same intentions as I had 🤔🤷🏻♂️
