You know you’re wasting time every day. Here are four surprising (and deep) reasons why: Reason #1: You don’t properly rest and reset. What most people consider “relaxing” is just mindless distraction. True rest — things like meditation, long baths or time in nature — rejuvenates your energy and enhances your ability to focus. Note: You might even be afraid of the stillness and self-reflection that comes with proper relaxation. Reason #2: You lack a strong sense of purpose. With a higher purpose, you stay focused and are more resilient to distractions. Reason #3: You’re unfulfilled. You’re subconsciously trying to find fulfillment in distractions. Instead, intentionally find fulfillment in things that feel meaningful to you. Reason #4: You haven’t mastered your mind. The mind is a great servant, but a terrible master. Practice mindfulness, meditation, journaling, and anything else for you break free from the chains of your own mind. Remember, it’s all a balance. If you’re constantly distracting yourself, that’s obviously not helpful. But if you’re so disciplined and rigid all the time, you’ll be miserable as well. Be mindful. Be intentional. And find your own unique balance.
