What rest actually does, and where it stops
Sleep and stress load change how much pain you can carry and how the next day goes. A bad stretch can be the thing that tips a flare. So it is worth knowing what rest and meditation do, and where the evidence stops. No incense required. https://pancreaszen.com/wellbeing/stress-rest-meditation-pancreatitis/

Two paid tiers are open (free stays free)
Quick one about how this group works from today. Everything that's free stays free. The checklist, the recipes, the courses, the Ask threads. None of it moves behind a paywall. What's new is two paid tiers, for anyone who wants more. Premium, $9 a month or $90 a year. A new 7-day meal plan every month, a live Q&A with me once a month, new recipes here first, and 20% off the book, the Kit and the meal plan (30% on the yearly plan). VIP, $19 a month or $190 a year. Everything in Premium, a small-group call every 2 weeks, and 30% off. On the yearly VIP plan the book, the Kit and the meal plan are included. Why charge at all? Recipe testing, editing, hosting, and the hours that aren't going into paid work. The paid tiers keep this going. The free part is what I wanted when I got home from hospital, so that one isn't going anywhere. The first monthly meal plan lands in October.

The risk factor that gets no attention at all
Alcohol takes all the blame in this disease. Smoking quietly does its own damage, speeds up the scarring and lifts the cancer risk, and almost nobody gets told that on discharge. No lecture in this one. There is good news in the quitting numbers. https://pancreaszen.com/journal/smoking-and-pancreatitis-the-risk-multiplier-that-gets-ignored/

New in the Classroom: the Food Test Log, unlocks at Level 3
New course in the Classroom: the Food Test Log. It's Chapter 28 of the book turned into a fillable sheet, so you test one new food at a time and write down what happened. Why bother when you already have the Safe Foods Checklist? The checklist is what worked for me. Everything in its Reintroduce with caution section still gets tested before it becomes a regular, and so does every food that isn't on the list at all. 3 pages, fillable, A4 and US Letter. Page 1 logs each test: the food, the portion, your PERT dose and the signs you noticed in the 48 hours after. Page 2 is where each food ends up: always safe, tentative, failed for now or permanent no. Page 3 is the method on one page, plus a box for your base plate on test days. It's free, and it opens at Level 3: 20 likes on your posts or comments. Say hello, ask your question, answer someone else's. Then open the Classroom tab, print it, and start with one food.
