A good reference track for the 101 mixing project?
Hi all, I hope it's okay to ask this question here! I'm still quite new to this and I'm trying to work my way through the Music Production 101 course. I've just finished watching the video under 'Mixing' called "Working with Busses" which tells me to use a reference track. In all the other assignments the reference has been provided, so I'm a bit lost. It's a great tune, but a bit out of my comfort zone regarding genre, so I don't have much to go on. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what song would be good to use as a reference to this song ("Panic" by Tristan Dolan) to use for the bussing assignment and the mixing project?

@Rob Cooney thank you so much! I'll check it out 😊
Question about the Female Producers Call
I can see in the calendar that there are monthly calls for women, which I think is absolutely fantastic! The call unlocks with a premium membership, but it says it's for TRE in the description, thus the confusion. Are you welcome if you have a Premium membership, or is it only for women who are a part of TRE?

To anyone who wants to know: I got an answer on a different post, but premium members can attend too! And the description of the events has been modified as well :)

New Years Solutions.
This is the year we fight back. We fight. We battle our demons. Maybe we battle the part of us that scrolls social media instead of making music. Maybe we battle the part of us that overthinks everything. Maybe we battle the voice that says we can’t. Maybe we battle the distractions that pull us away from our goals. Maybe we battle the feeling that we don’t belong. Maybe we fight the voice that always says, “Maybe tomorrow.” And all of us are fighting against a soulless, artificial world. The world is in a strange place right now. It needs your voice. It needs your art. It needs your passion. There are people out there who need to be inspired, and you’re the only one who can do it. Or maybe you’re an engineer. There are artists who need you to help bring their voice to life. And you’re the one who can do it. This is the year we fight back.

Thanks for this! I'm struggling really bad with overthinking and a general feeling of not being good enough, which is really holding me back from from making music and is really putting a damper on my creativity. This year I really want to work on those struggles and actually give myself a fair shot at learning the skills that I want to learn and just have some fun making music. I really hope that I can hold myself accountable this year. Tomorrow starts today.
Happy New Year to all
Many new ideas, recordings, mixes ,masters and musical happiness is what the world truly needs
