Something In The Shade
I'll tell you all a secret That I feel in my bones: I think my Shadow's moving, And acting on its own. I see it shifting sometimes Just outside my view, But when I turn to see it, It's still, and never moves. It follows me around, Not like a shadow should; As if it's keeping step with me - I'd catch it if I could. Sometimes, I swear it's smiling— Though shadows cannot smile. Sometimes, it'll stop somewhere, And linger for a while. I've tried to make it mimic me, But it refused to play. I raise my arms, it folds its own; I turn, it looks away. I stomp my feet; it skips along. I wave; it bows its head. I stand completely still - It takes another step instead. I asked it once, quite quietly, "Just what are you about?" It seemed to shrug its shoulders, Then it simply faded out. But when I started walking, There it was again, A little farther off than me, Around the corner then. I've tried to catch it many times, But shadows are too quick. They slip beneath the furniture And hide behind a brick. And lately I've begun to think It does this just for fun. It waits until I'm looking close, Then darts away and runs. I'm not afraid, exactly. It's simply rather odd To see a shaded form Wear its own facade. I wonder if it knows me, Or if it thinks I'm strange. I wonder if it wonders why I never seem to change. Yesterday, at sunset, The whole world turned to gold - My Shadow stepped in front of me, Did something rather bold. It turned around and faced me - At least, that's how it seemed. Then threw its arms out wide and bowed, Like something I had dreamed. I laughed, and it laughed with me, Though shadows cannot laugh. And when I started walking home, It followed down my path. Perhaps I've got a Shadow That's more alive than most; Maybe it's more vivacious Than I am as the host. If it's found vigor of its own, I suppose that's quite alright. Perhaps I'll follow it tomorrow, See where it goes at night. So now, I let it wander, And give it room to roam. For if my Shadow's found a life,

Beautiful and a little creepy
Lion's Gate Portal
🦁 The Lion's Gate: Entering the Current There are certain moments in the year that seem to gather a particular kind of momentum around them. The Lion's Gate Portal, traditionally associated with the period surrounding August 8, is one of them. At its heart, the Lion's Gate brings together several powerful streams of symbolism: the Sun in Leo, the rising of Sirius, the radiance of the solar principle, and the image of the Lion itself. Together, they form a potent energetic landscape concerned with illumination, sovereignty, courage, purpose, creation, and the willingness to let what lives within us become visible in the world. The Lion's Gate is often described as a portal of manifestation, but I think there is something deeper happening beneath that familiar language. This isn't simply about calling something toward us. It is about becoming capable of meeting what we have called forth. ☀️ The Sun in Leo The Sun is, quite literally, at home in Leo. Astrologically, Leo is ruled by the Sun, making this season particularly resonant with solar themes: vitality, creativity, self-expression, confidence, courage, warmth, and the generative force of the heart. Leo asks us to inhabit our own radiance. Not perform it. Not prove it. Not compare it to anyone else's. Simply to let ourselves become visible. There is something deeply sovereign in that. The Lion does not need permission to be a lion. Its power comes partly from its willingness to occupy its own nature fully. The Lion's Gate therefore offers an invitation toward authentic embodiment: What within you is ready to stop remaining potential and become lived reality? ⭐ Sirius: The Guiding Star The other great figure in the Lion's Gate symbolism is Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky. Its annual reappearance in the morning sky was of profound significance to ancient Egyptians, coinciding with the seasonal flooding of the Nile and the renewal of the land. Sirius therefore became associated with cycles of renewal, fertility, rebirth, and the return of life-giving waters.

The Horizon - What new path or possibility is beginning to emerge? Five of baskets. I'm so glad for that article @Meaghan Vaughan wrote about the fives. What am I to learn from my loss? I think I've naturally looked at the eggs remaining instead of honoring and sitting with my grief and loss. Literally don't put my eggs in one basket. Allowing myself to not be a Pollyanna and express my anger about what happened and a way forward. I know I don't want to give up anymore of my one precious life to a soulless corporation.

Finally The Guiding Star -What message does Sirirus or my higher guidance offer as I move forward? Resist. Resist giving up. Resist settling. Stay in community with like minded people. Overall many new and painful beginnings to grow and get to where I want to be.
Did you hear?
So at the vet with my cat and we overhear this man taking a out the debacle with his keys. He had to dig through the trash and then finally he could report it . They reviewed it and saw the guy on the camera. Then his dog came out and we will be get to hear what happens. Don't you hate when that happens? What's the best story you ever overheard?

The Fifth Step: Tarot's Midpoint Of Becoming
I've just added a new essay to the Field Notes section of the Classroom: The Fifth Step: Tarot's Midpoint of Becoming This began as an exploration and conversation on the deeper meaning of the Fives, not just as individual cards, but the broader perspective of all of them together. The more I sat with it, the more I found myself seeing the Fives not merely as cards of conflict, grief, hardship, or loss, but as the pivotal midpoint of every Minor Arcana journey—the place where growth can no longer continue through momentum alone, and where the traveler is asked to respond to necessary tension. This isn't an attempt to replace traditional interpretations. If anything, it's an attempt to sit with them a little longer, looking beneath the familiar meanings to explore the developmental role these cards play within the larger story of the Minor Arcana. I found that it changed the way I look at the Fives while I was writing it. I hope it offers you something to reflect on as well.

@Meaghan Vaughan This was excellent and gives a great example of letting the cards ask you questions that I read about from the tarot diagnosis Instagram account.
Full Moon Symbolism & Spread
Full Buck Moon in Aquarius Occurs July 29, 2026 • 8:35 a.m. CST Every Full Moon illuminates something. It brings hidden patterns into conscious awareness, revealing what has grown, what has reached completion, and what is ready to change. This particular Full Moon, however, carries considerably more depth than many lunations. While the Moon itself resides in Aquarius, several significant astrological alignments weave together to create an atmosphere of transformation, reflection, and forward movement. Aquarius is often described as the visionary of the zodiac. It encourages us to think beyond ourselves, to question established systems, and to imagine what the future could become. Rather than asking, "What do I want?" Aquarius asks, "What are we building together?" It reminds us that we each belong to something larger than ourselves, whether that is a family, a friendship, a community, or humanity as a whole. Yet Aquarius is sometimes misunderstood. It is frequently associated with emotional detachment, but its deeper gift is perspective. Aquarius steps back not because it lacks compassion, but because distance can reveal patterns that are difficult to see from the middle of the experience. The challenge comes when perspective turns into disconnection—when analyzing our feelings replaces actually feeling them, or when we become so focused on ideas that we forget the people those ideas are meant to serve. Opposing the Moon is the Sun in Leo, joined closely by Jupiter. Leo encourages us to shine, to create, to express ourselves openly, and to embrace the unique qualities that make each of us who we are. Jupiter amplifies this energy, expanding confidence, optimism, generosity, and our desire to grow into a fuller expression of ourselves. This creates one of the central themes of the lunation: the balance between the individual and the collective. How do we express ourselves authentically without demanding the spotlight? How do we contribute to our communities without disappearing into them? Leo reminds us that every light deserves to shine. Aquarius reminds us that many lights together form a constellation.

so for the light I carry I got the three of knives and this didn't seem like a very happy clappy card since that's usually associated with betrayal but perhaps part of the light that I carry is the ability to hold space for these hard and challenging thoughts and feelings and situations for other people. the circle that calls me I got the nine of Wands reverse which seem to be a bunch of changemakers their people all in black with their fists up and it's reversed so I'm thinking about what is the challenge about being in community and maybe it's just being in community I've recently been doing a lot more networking being active in in groups here and sometimes it can be tiring to go through all that. the hidden current I get the daughter of knives which to me is literally trying to face my fear face my limiting thoughts going into the great unknown and if I'm somebody that holds space for other people having gone through this journey of grief and heartache is what gives me the strength to go before and lead the way into reconciliation and confronting the hard things. so the pattern ready to mold I get the star and normally this is about shining but here we have a partnership and the lady is being carried by her partner and maybe it's just time to stand on my own which kind of is in a little bit of conflict with community so I'm not sure about it. according to the book it's about Hope and healing and I mean what comes to mind for me is not relying on hopium I have to kind of pick myself up and do the work for me to see the results. the future trying to find me is the hermit reversed so in this journey in the wilderness it is probably time to come out and to be visible and be a light and help other people which kind of ties back to the first two and leading the way. for the hearts compass I got the moon reversed and I've gotten the moon recently in a reading and this one the person is kind of looking at their shadow so paired up against the hermit I feel like I still have to continue to renew and dig into the depths and find that time to recharge like I do need to be attached to community and things like that but also having the time to reflect and process is important as well.

@Meaghan Vaughan What proof do I need before I allow myself to believe that what I'm creating matters? That's stood out to me and I think was echoed in Heather's video today. Interesting we both got the hermit and I agree about cultivating a light to bring back
