For many years, I worked as a weight-loss and fitness coach, helping women lose weight, become stronger, improve their health, and feel more confident in their bodies. Health and fitness have always mattered deeply to me. And now, as a woman in midlife myself, I understand firsthand that caring for our bodies often requires more intention than it did when we were younger. After menopause, hormones change, muscle mass becomes easier to lose, and many of us notice that body fat settles differently—especially around the middle. What worked at 30 may not work exactly the same way in our 50s and beyond. But that does not mean we cannot lose weight, become stronger, and feel amazing in our bodies. We absolutely can. 💕 The goal is not punishment, restriction, or trying to become smaller at any cost. The goal is to nourish your body, protect your muscles, build strength, create sustainable habits, and have the energy to fully enjoy the life you are here to live. 🍳 Start With Protein One of the simplest and most powerful questions you can ask before every meal is: Where is my protein? Protein becomes especially important as we age because it helps preserve lean muscle, supports metabolism, helps with fullness, and makes it easier to stay satisfied after meals. Great protein options include: - Eggs and egg whites - Chicken or turkey - Lean beef - Fish and seafood - Greek yogurt - Cottage cheese - Beans and lentils - Tofu - A quality protein shake when it is helpful and convenient Try building each meal around a protein source first—then add the rest of your plate. 🥦 Eat More Foods That Nourish You Fill your meals with colorful vegetables and fruit. They provide fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and volume that helps you feel satisfied. Think berries, melon, apples, oranges, leafy greens, broccoli, asparagus, peppers, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, tomatoes, and the foods you genuinely enjoy eating. Fiber supports digestion, gut health, healthy blood-sugar levels, and fullness.
