Contest Submission
Hurrah. Today I submitted my first chapter for Prowriting Aid’s contest with an hour to spare. Horrors. Your ultimate pantser. It is called Daughter of the Shadow Prince. Chapter 1 is ‘The Severing Power’ Low Medieval Fantasy. Thank you.

What a exciting milestone. "Daughter of the Shadow Prince" and "The Severing Power" both sound incredibly intriguing. I love low medieval fantasy, and those titles already make me want to know more about the world and characters behind them. Sometimes those last-minute pushes are where some of our best work happens. Wishing you the best with the contest and hoping this is only the beginning for your story.

@Christine Hastings That is exciting that you are already on chapter 4. It sounds like the story is really flowing for you. For me, I usually think of low fantasy as fantasy that still feels very connected to the real world, human struggles, emotions, politics, relationships, family problems, survival, betrayal, faith, identity, and ordinary people facing extraordinary things. I tend to like stories where the fantasy elements are important, but the emotional side of the story is what really pulls people in. What I personally enjoy writing most is faith-based redemption, second chances, family struggles, hidden pain, small-town stories, and people trying to rebuild their lives. I also love stories where there are secrets, old letters, hidden documents, family history, or something from the past that changes everything. I published a book called Open Your Eyes: A True Testimony Turned into a Message to Those Seeking Redemption, which is based on my own life, addiction recovery, faith, and second chances. I am also working on a new series called When You Don’t Know What to Say, focused on helping people through overwhelming situations, difficult paperwork, and life transitions. You can find more about me, my services, and my book on my website at thego2writer.com. The book is listed on the Books page there. Your title makes me think of something dark, emotional, and powerful with a lot of history behind it, which I love. I would definitely love to hear more about your world and characters as you keep going. Hope you have an amazing and blessed week sister. God bless you Stacey Brooks Thego2writer

@Gloria Pineda oh wow cool! Haven't had any real visitor feedback yet. This just made my day. I mean I can see I've had visitors traffic, but that doesn't give me anything really... I'm so super happy right now I can't stand it...

To everyone in this group who is writing while tired, discouraged, busy, distracted, overwhelmed, doubting yourself, or wondering if your work is even good enough... keep going.
Are there people in this group writing before work, after work, on lunch breaks, late at night, early in the morning, in between kids, responsibilities, stress, and real life. That matters. Not every writing day is going to feel creative or inspiring. Some days it is just showing up and writing one paragraph, editing one page, making one note, or refusing to quit. You do not have to have it all figured out right now. You do not need a perfect outline, a perfect chapter, or a perfect plan to keep moving forward. Progress still counts, even when it feels slow. A rough draft can be fixed. A blank page cannot. Galatians 6:9 has been on my mind lately: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Your words matter. Your story matters. And the fact that you are still trying matters more than you know. Stacey Brooks Thego2writer

@Gloria Pineda love this...
What do you find harder right now?
Writing new chapters or editing what you’ve already written? For me, editing feels more frustrating especially when I know something isn’t working but can’t pinpoint why.

@Precious Reader For myself, it's usually editing that I struggle with the most. Writing new chapters can feel heavy, but at least there is momentum and excitement in it. Editing is harder when you know something feels off, but you cannot quite figure it out. Sometimes I think the hardest part is being too close to your own work. After reading the same chapter over and over, everything starts sounding either terrible or perfect and neither one is usually true. At least for me that's the case.
