@Original Williams Have you ever heard of Adam and Eve? They were the first people in human history and they lived at a time when everything was perfect. There was no evil, only good, and they were made by God (just like all of us). God gave them freedom to do whatever they wanted to do except one thing. They were not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or they will die. But Satan came as a serpent and deceived them saying they wouldn’t die, so they ate from the tree. In doing that their eyes were opened and they saw the shame and sin that was brought upon them. This is the first sin ever and it caused them to be separated from the presence of God. That’s what sin does. It separates us from God. The problem is their sin didn’t stop with them. Sin passes down like a genetic disease to everyone one born from the beginning of man all the way down to you and me and the newest newborn that was just born 2 seconds ago. That means that we’re all born in sin and separated from God. Not only were we Born in sin, but the Bible says all have sinned (action) and fallen short of the glory of God. That means no one is perfect and no one has the ability in their own strength to be worthy o enter back into the presence of God. This is how we’re stuck and separated from God. Have you heard of Moses and the 10 commandments? Well, there were more than 10 things the Israelites had to follow. If they ever sinned, they had to pay for it and sin is costly. The Bible says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The way they paid for it was with a sacrifice (a form of worship). They had to bring a lamb, but not just any lamb. I could have no cuts, bruises, or be sick. It had to be a pure and spotless lamb. That would cover the sin for the time being. Now, God in His goodness knows that we could never truly afford to cover all our sins, so He Himself came as Jesus to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sin. Jesus was perfect and without sin (defect). Jesus is the Lamb of God (His sacrifice (paying the price for us)) who takes away the sin of the world. Through Jesus’ sacrifice we are made righteous in the sight of God. Our sin is removed from us and we are given access back into the presence of God. We don’t have to be dead in our sin. The Bible says that the gift of Life is eternal life. It’s a gift that God has chosen to freely give you. The application is you choosing to accept the gift. It’s an expensive gift because Jesus died a sacrificial death for you, but because He’s the all powerful God who created Heaven and earth, not only did He die for you, but he rose again, defeating death. When you choose Jesus you get to be in the presence of God in Heaven when you leave earth. But if you don’t choose Jesus, God accepts your decision to be eternally separated from Him and you would have to go to hell. But this is how Jesus saves you.
