Cornwall County Championship
This weekend was the 800m freestyle. Skyla was in the first heat for her age group so I was concerned she might not pace herself as well as if she was in a higher heat. However she started and finished strong with a massive pb of 1:10:95. Skyla set a great time for the others and ended up being 2nd. 🥈 I was very proud of her swim regardless of where she came but was super pleased for her to get a medal.

Essex Age Groups County Championships Weekend 1
The first weekend of counties have been and gone for Ava. 4 long course pbs out of 6 races with a 4th in the 100m back and 7th in the 400IM. Unfortunately her 50m fly and breast were off her pb from last year, so work to be done on her sprint events. She has a full programme of 8 events to get her teeth into to complete her Essex Age Groups 2025 campaign this weekend. Let’s hope it’s another positive one.

County Development Programme
Happy new year everyone! Yesterday we received an email inviting Skyla to be on the county development programme for talented swimmers. This is very exciting for us as it is the first step to a national pathway. Another step towards her dreams. Does anyone have experience of these pathways in the Uk? Are they helpful and what can we expect? Thank you

Hi , so my daughter did her first training session at the weekend. 2 hours of stroke technique and turn practice- was a good session. Next she will have a zoom call then a second training session in the summer. Was hoping there would be more training sessions but pleased with what they are covering 😀
Swimmeet in Houston, Texas
I started working 1on1 with David about a month ago. This weekend I had my first important meet. To prepare I only did breathing techniques and visualization. Long story short, I swam PB‘s in every race. In my 100 breaststroke i dropped 4 seconds and in my 200 breaststroke 6 seconds. And all that with a new trainingssystem and different type of tapering, from the one I normally do. I can highly recommend the mindgym pro and look forward to learn new things!! Good luck everyone🏊‍♂️

They Understand Modern Swimming...
Turns & underwaters are hard, I get it. If it was easy, everybody would do it. And that's exactly where you can gain a HUGE advantage over your competitors. Most swimmers think they'll get good at turns & underwaters eventually. Yet, they take no action to actually improve them on a daily basis. Did you know that the team at the University Of Virginia drilled new holes into their pool so they could train in short-course meters instead of short-course yards? Success isn't accidental. Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh and Alex Walsh are proof. Here's Noe Ponti doing turns & underwaters. What are you doing in practice to speed up your fly kicks and stay under water for longer?? Share your tips in the comments for others to get inspired please!!
