Difference between building a non-profit and fiscal sponsor to me are: 1}Non-profit organizations are your own entity alongside your own established non-profit organization. With grants your organization can directly apply for filing and ongoing administrative costs which is good for a long term established organization. 2} Fiscal sponsor to me are sponsors already who have a non-profit exempt status, also sponsors can apply/receive funds for your project. The sponsor has oversight and is much faster to start up. Good for new emerging community projects. A few I've found that aligns with me : 1.Coastal Community Foundation {CCF} Charleston, SC They actually operate a fiscal sponsorship program, which served 70+projects,including projects that later became successful independent organizations. 2.Foundation for the Carolinas-Charlotte/Mecklenburg county Its says the organization normally eligibility requirements can apply for certain grants under fiscal sponsorship. 3.The Ripple Fund-non-profit organization They focus on early-stage non-profits and social -impact leadership. 4.North Carolina Arts Council- Their projects support grants ranging from $5,000-$15,000 fiscal grants accepts legal/fiduciary responsibly for the guest.
