If you could go back to the day you started government....
If you could go back to the day you started government contracting and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? Not a book. Not a course. Just one lesson that would have saved you time, money, or frustration. I'm curious to see what experienced contractors would tell their beginner selves.

Go bigger and stop wasting time on the race to the bottom items like screws, etc and outsource packaging and shipping, just include the expense into my overall cost. This model allows for larger margins, less time spent on packaging the product, and more time for bidding!

Packaging Question
I was awarded a contract for 111 lanyard pieces, each approximately 6 inches long, requiring ASTM-compliant packaging. In the photo below, the lanyard is shown in a 5" x 6" poly mil bag. My question is: is this bag size acceptable, or would a 3" x 8" or 3" x 7" bag be more appropriate to allow the lanyard to sit upright with less unused space? Note: I have the 5" X 6" already in stock, so I'm using what I have on hand.

Affordable Poly Bags - Much Cheaper than ULINE!
For those that are doing their own shipping I came across a POLY MIL BAG supplier that is almost half the cost of ULINE and great quality. I purchased 4 MIL Poly Bags for half the price of ULINE and they arrived in a couple of days from ordering. https://www.uspolypack.com/Flat-Poly-Bags_c_1056.html

Clarification on Printing Item Labels in VSM for PG Unit of Issue
Hello , I need some assistance with printing item labels via VSM for a shipment with the following details: - Quantity: 54 PG - Conversion: 1 PG = 5 pieces, totaling 270 pieces - Issue: The quantity is displaying as 54 (not 270) Could you please clarify the following: 1. Should I enter "PG" in the Unit of Issue Detail box, or should I reflect the total number of pieces? 2. What should be entered for the LOT number in this case? 3. Since the items do not contain serial numbers, what should I input in the Serial Numbers section? @Rudy Cadena @Day Cantave

Thank you Rudy. You're the best! Does the 54 labels still apply if the packaging calls for 1 QUP? Wouldn't each item need a separate label?

I think I figured it out. There needs to be 5 items in 1 Bag.
