Reintroduction
I am Sherrie Wilkins. I typically go by Sherrie Yvette when on stage! Ofcourse I’m a poet who is also a truth and storyteller. I’m proud to be an educator who writes to challenge us all to slow down to stop and think about our lives outside of our daily walk. I am the author of 2 books! The most recent is titled, It’s Love: Poems and Prose from the Heart. Which is written with my husband who’s a musician so you can find our album with music and the poems via all places where you stream music! I have been honored to receive New Jim Crow Poetry Award for my poetry as it relates to social justice! My poetry has appeared in the Classic’s Capital Area Poetry Anthology, and I am grateful that my work resonates with readers across generations. I’ve spoken poetically to 1000’s of youth in my day. Through my poetry, I hope to encourage others to embrace their own voices and to reflect deeply! Would love to share what I’ve created using the suggestions from January Bingo board with others. Where should I that?

Thanks for this tool. Great way to stay motivated and get started for 2026 movement as a poet. I printed it from Instagram and added it to my planner!

I Just Closed A DC School By Being On LinkedIn!
Because of my presence on LinkedIn, a colleague and college friend reached out to me via DM in consideration for an opportunity at the high school where he works with special ed students. How present are you on LinkedIn? Are you on LinkedIn at all? All of the decision makers are on LinkedIn. I make it "my business" to prioritize this platform over all others because it's a platform for business-minded and business oriented people. It's time to make a shift. I just had the meeting with them yesterday. We start next week. Let's talk about it. Any questions?

HERE WE GO!! IT'S "REACHOUT MONDAYS"!!
Sending out scheduled reach-out emails on Mondays to organizations that advocate for causes related to a poet's work can be quite beneficial for several reasons: 1. **Start of the Week Visibility**: Mondays mark the beginning of the workweek, which can be an optimal time to catch the attention of organization members who are planning their week and may be more receptive to new collaborations or projects. 2. **Alignment of Interests**: Organizations that advocate for specific causes are likely to be interested in poetry that speaks to their mission. This alignment can lead to meaningful partnerships where poetry amplifies the message of the advocacy group. 3. **Increased Engagement**: Poetry can be a powerful tool for storytelling and conveying emotions. By reaching out to advocacy groups, poets can engage a wider audience who are already passionate about the cause, potentially leading to a more profound impact. 4. **Networking and Collaboration**: Regular communication with advocacy organizations can open doors for poets to participate in events, campaigns, or publications, increasing their visibility and influence. 5. **Advocacy Through Art**: Poets have the unique ability to use their art as a form of advocacy, supporting important causes and contributing to social change¹². 6. **Building a Supportive Community**: Consistent outreach helps in building a network of supporters who can offer resources, advice, and encouragement, which is crucial for any artist. 7. **Professional Growth**: Engaging with organizations can lead to professional development opportunities for poets, such as workshops, speaking engagements, or educational programs. Overall, scheduled reach-out emails can help poets create a consistent presence, foster relationships with like-minded organizations, and potentially expand their influence and audience³⁴. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4pvF-cOy0B/?igsh=M2ZzZHNkYTFpYXB1
