The 3 C's that steal your joy
Complain, criticize and compare... Which of these get you? We encourage you to watch for these for a week and monitor which ones are creeping in on your joy.

I rarely complain, that's not the one that gets me. I compare at times, but infrequently. However, I do catch myself criticizing myself and others. Criticism can and does steal my joy. I'm now on guard to squash such thoughts and protect my joy.

Doing hard things
In our family, we regularly say "We do hard things." It's like the Webber motto. Recently, I've decided to get back in shape. I've been going to the gym consistently for about 2 months. However, the healthy diet has been more difficult. Then, I came across the sardine fast. Yep, just eating sardines for 3-7 days. I'm on day 2 and I've lost 7 pounds. Now, in general, I like sardines. However, for every meal is a whole new experience. I'm committed to keep going. My goal is 195, I'm now at 225. What hard things are you working on? Or, what hard thing do you want to start tackling?

Clock or Compass?
I was rereading Stephen Covey's "First Things First." If you haven't read it, I recommend it. Half of the book covers the gap between how we spend our time (clock) and what's important to us (compass- going in the right direction). Many times what's urgent takes all of our attention and we neglect what's truly important. Let's put First Things First this week. For some of you, this will require a great deal of attention and intention. Where to start? Make sure the important gets its rightful time and place. Things you might deem important, but sometimes or frequently neglect: Physical exercise Spiritual exercise Spending time with loved ones Self-care Learning new things, languages, skills Getting enough sleep/rest Spending time in gratitude Showing sincere appreciation to others Quiet time, reflection, pondering etc. Home maintenance, cleaning Socializing with and serving friends and neighbors Financial planning Volunteering for or mentoring others Tell us what you're going to no longer neglect and report back.

@Brandon Awbrey Yes, I love that book too. It drives home the power of purpose and living by your values.
