Getting in the uprights and membrane
Hey y’all here’s a little update …got the uprights in today and membrane. Will be putting base rock in tomorrow and the bottom 2x6 base plate joining the uprights. Then we’ll start prepping the pallets… hope you find these updates helpful as well as entertaining!!

Is there any benefit to laying the membrane and then piercing through to place your posts?

Just lovely! 😊 Wintertime is such a good time for those finer detailed art projects!
Started the new Hobbit Hut today
Heya, I started the new hut today. Tomorrow I’ll be laying down a membrane and cutting a hole in the membrane where the upright will go and then putting the upright in concrete then we’ll put in some drain rock and lay down some tea by fours to attach our wooden floor then will start putting in our pallets and will work on the roof and get that all done before we do any of the Cob work. I’ll be documenting the process that you all can see how it progresses.

Excited to see it happen! How do you support the hill from collapsing?
12 sided hub
Made a Hub for the roof. Used a pocket hole jig and pocket hole screws, that made it easy to pre-drill the holes with a consistent angle and 2 1/2 inch screws. Split the wood on the first brace for the support, so after that, also pre-drilled all the holes for the support. Including a photo of my favorite counter sink, tapered drillbit. Pre-drill to prevent this kind of splitting.

@Martin Stenflo I’m about to also about to build a cabinet and I used my friend’s last year after wanting one for a long time. She also suggested the higher end.

@Martin Stenflo 10/10 photography, too! 🤌🏼
Roof beams
Got the roof beams up just in time before the sun set. They went up pretty quick and was pretty easy to do by myself as the joist hangers were already attached to the hub, I could just slide the beams in place and then climb up on the ladder and screw them in.

@Sir Cobalot what’s the idea behind milled lumber? What would be beneficial at this point?
