Client Showed Strong Interest, Then Went Silent After Initial Progress
There was a job post that I applied to, and the client reached out to me after 3 days. He sent me a message saying he wanted to discuss the website the next day at 6:00 PM CST. He came online at that time, and we discussed the project. I also asked him to buy a domain. He said, “How? Let me know.” I asked him to share his screen, took him to GoDaddy, and he bought a .us domain. I suggested going with .us, and he said, “Fine, let’s go, man.” He was really happy with the way I explained how we would start and get things done. He also had no problem with the budget. He was new on Upwork and based in the USA. I did some research and found that he is a salesperson living in Boston and Texas. On the call, he was saying, “Amazing, man. I really trust you, and I’m not creative, so handle everything about the website.” After about 30 minutes of discussion, another man came in. He said, “Sorry, Shahzaib, can we connect tomorrow at the same time? I have a very urgent meeting and can’t skip it.” He also asked me how he could pay me. At that moment, I wasn’t aware, so I said I would send him a contract that he would need to accept, and then we would be in a contract. He said, “Cool.” About 10 minutes after the call ended, I messaged him again and said, “Sorry, but Upwork terms and conditions have changed, and I can’t send the contract—the client has to do it.” I then explained how he could hire me. He came online at 7:17 AM CST and sent me a logo image, asking, “Do you think this logo will work, or do we need to make changes?” He also said he bought the domain and that it included email, and asked me to help him configure it. He then said, “Let’s connect tomorrow at the same time.” I replied, “Cool, see you at the same time.” After that, he never came online again, and it has now been more than 55 hours.
