Would you actually do an Africa Safari?
Would you actually do an Africa safari… or is it just a “one day” trip? I’ve been talking with a local safari operator in East Africa about possibly putting together a small group experience — something like: • Uganda safari • Gorilla trekking • Wildlife game drives • Small group (not big bus tours) • Bucket-list level experience Still early, just exploring — but I’m curious… Is this something you'd actually want to do? And if yes: - Would you go solo or bring someone? - What would hold you back? - What timeframe feels realistic? (2025 / 2026 / someday) - Is gorilla trekking a yes or too intense? No commitment — just gauging real interest before I go deeper on this. Some trips stay in the “someday” category forever…This might be one worth actually doing. @Helen Sandwick Gorilla trekking? Think less “nature walk,” more “real-life What it entails:* You + UWA rangers tracking a wild gorilla family through Bwindi’s ancient forest. Could be 45 mins. Could be 6 hours of mud, vines, stinging nettles, and “are we there yet?” Then silence… and suddenly a 200kg silverback is 7 meters away chewing bamboo like you don’t exist. Fast facts to feel it: 1. 98.4% human DNA* – You’re basically visiting distant cousins who skipped civilization 2. Silverbacks = 10 men strong* – Can lift 800kg, but they’re gentle giants. They’d rather nap than fight 3. Only 1,063 left – All of them live in Uganda, Rwanda, DRC. No zoos, no backups 4. 1 hour only – That’s your time once you find them. UWA rule to keep them wild 5. They know you’re there – Infants play, moms nurse, teens show off. You’re in their living room Is it easy? No. Is it guaranteed? 99% yes — trackers follow them daily. Is it worth every scratch and sweat? Ask anyone who’s locked eyes with a silverback.

🌍 Travel Guessing Game
Let’s do something fun. Post one photo from a trip you’ve taken — anywhere in the world. But don’t say where it is yet. Everyone else can try to guess the destination in the replies. After a few guesses, you can reveal where it actually was. A few notes:• Wrong guesses are completely welcome• If you want, you can drop a small hint• Even local trips count — sometimes those are the hardest to guess Travel memories are some of the best stories we have, so let’s see where everyone has been. Who wants to post the first mystery photo? 📸
