What if staying calm was never the goal?
So many of us have heard it: regulated parent = regulated child. And somewhere along the way, we hear it as: “If I were calmer, my kids would be calmer.” So we put on the calm mask. Soft voice. Deep breath. Push it down. Get through dinner, bath, bedtime... and then it comes out anyway. Here’s the thing: our kids feel what’s happening in our nervous system, not just what’s on our face. And holding it all in drains us 😮‍💨 You can’t think your way through an emotion. What’s been building lives in your body, and that’s where the breath comes in. It gives it all somewhere to go. Not calmer. More YOU. More present. More forgiving with yourself. More available for your kids 💛 And if you’ve been hard on yourself lately: if you could have, you would have. And when you can... you will. Tell us below 👇 When do you most notice yourself putting on the calm mask? We are right here, reading each reply 🙏
