Big Idea Speaker Bootcamp
Virtual • Feb 9–13 • $197 I’ve read hundreds of TEDx applications. Most don’t fail because the speaker isn’t smart or interesting. They fail because the idea isn’t sharp yet. So I’m opening a small, virtual working room called the Big Idea Speaker Bootcamp. Over five live sessions (Feb 9–13), we’ll pressure-test one idea, refine it to a TEDx-level standard, and break down how strong talks are actually shaped and selected. You’ll also hear directly from three TEDx organizers who currently have open applications. 🎟️ Virtual Bootcamp | $197 If you’re serious about your idea, the link is in the comments.

@Durrell Douglas, super excited about this. Just DM you a quick question about it and hoping you give me some clarity before the start of the Bootcamp.

Hey everyone, my name is Sekou Browne. I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and I currently live in Houston, Texas. My big idea: Across American churches, women significantly outnumber men — yet the guidance around dating hasn’t changed. My talk explores what happens when institutions offer well-meaning advice that no longer accounts for demographic reality, and how that mismatch quietly reshapes relationships and expectations.

@Daniel Durany pull up a chair, order a drink and get comfortable cause this might run long lol. On the real, hard to truly say but I hear a myriad of reasons - catering to women, distrust for leadership, impractical teaching etc. if selected, I’ll go into research my pastor did on the topic where he found that men don’t find value in church until they have children. So again, hard to truly nail down the true reason. If you backed me into a corner, I’d say men will be more drawn to smaller intimate gatherings versus traditional church style worship services.
My TEDx Talk Is Live!
I’m excited to share that my TEDx talk is officially live on YouTube. It starts from a simple but slightly uncomfortable question about friendship, loyalty, and growth, and unpacks why some ideas are meant to challenge what we’ve been taught to value. It’s the kind of title that should make you pause, maybe raise an eyebrow, and feel compelled to click, the same way a good book title pulls you in before you’ve read a single page. 👉 Watch here: https://youtu.be/FAoGs4Bw7fg?si=nrKxY1zUAEwnUSD6 As you watch, please leave a comment directly on YouTube responding to one or two of these prompts: - What made the title work or not work for you before you even pressed play? - What moment in the talk clarified the real idea behind the provocative framing? - How does this change the way you think about loyalty, growth, or who we keep close? For those of you thinking about applying to speak at a TEDx event, pay attention not just to what is said, but how the idea is framed to invite curiosity and conversation. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Just watched and really enjoyed it. Loved the hook. It felt both informative and conversational. And the humor throughout shined and gives me hope. The idea of me speaking for 8-10 minutes without laughs sounds impossible and not me. Great talk.

My topic will be centered on gender imbalance in church, more specifically the lack of men. This imbalance is happening globally and transcends race, culture or denominations. And it has had a significant impact on dating and marriage, which is something I’ve seen up close working with Christian singles over my 20 years in ministry. Sadly, this issue isn’t something being tackled with great emphases so the problem is increasingly worsened. The goal with my talk is to bring awareness to this topic and hopefully spark change. Excited to have the opportunity.
