The 3 Buckets Method, (id est, Spatial Processing) do I have it right?
Maybe someone can help clarify the 3 buckets method for Spatial processing to me. This is my thinking in it so far but I feel like someone from the community could probably help explain it to me better. OK so you basically have 3 busses called Buckets. 1 for Drums and Percussion with a short verb and a long verb. A 2nd Buss for Vocals with a short verb, long verb, short delay and long delay, and a 3rd Buss for Everything Else with a short and long verb. You then select specific tracks that you want to send to these busses for a sense of space. Now here is where I get confused on the routing, and correct me if I am wrong because I don't use Logic and I am not familiar enough with its functions to understand its routing setup (also I have to squint super hard to see the names on the bottom of the tracks, so that doesn't help Lol), but from what I can tell, those buckets are all routed to a 4th Bucket/Buss called a WET FX Buss, and it is that Buss that is Routed to the main out, and NOT any of the actual 3 Buckets being discussed. Is that correct? None of the actual 3 buckets are being sent to the Main Stereo Out. All 3 of them are being sent to 1 WET FX Buss that is then sent to the Main Stereo Out, where it all gets summed together with the Group Busses. I just want to clarify if that is correct. If not, please explain! I just want to make sure I am following along correctly to the videos. Thank you, friendly people!

I actually had a hard time understanding this whole bussing/bucket stuff. Glad you asked Jedidiah! Even though seems your specific wet buss question hasn’t been answered… everyone else’s explanations have really helped me! Thanks y’all!

@Dick Roth when you go into Classroom tab, directly underneath the Fix The Mix Challenge header is a Open tab for February 2024. That will send you to the most recent replay. However, if you click on the picture below that first Open tab, it'll send you to the previous classes, which goes up to January 2024 and all prior classes. I made that mistake a couple times :(
Normalizing vs Gain Staging
I've been doing some research on the topic listed above and wondering if there is a preference? From what I found, what we learned was the automatic normalizing function found in Logic, but it sounds like gain staging can be a separate process done to each track. Am I understanding that correctly, or is it really so simple as using the normalize function?
