I was a Floyd Rose player most of my life until I got into Les Pauls. But if you are playing a lot of 80's - 90's hard rock, you will want to have at least one guitar with a Floyd. Different tools for different styles of playing. Nowadays I play them both equally. I have always floated my Floyds perfectly (on bodies that were routed to float) and rarely had issues with them going out of tune. To me, the biggest drawbacks on a floating bridge (versus my Stratocaster that rests on the body) is mostly bending notes, especially double spot bends, and then palm muting.

@Shawn Broad They were made to order and only sold on the Fender website. So you would only be able to find them on the used market.

@Jeremiah Goins It played OK when I unboxed it. She had a buzz on first and second fret, so it needs a setup. I’ve been so busy that it is sitting on the workbench waiting to be setup. I should be able to dedicate the time on Saturday. Then I plan to practice on the Tele all week.

Strat -vs- Les Paul
I've been playing guitar for 50+ years and have always played Strat style guitars. Today's weapon of choice is a 2005 American Deluxe Strat. I typically play blues, rock, funk, Floyd, etc style music. It's hard to believe that I never have had a Les Paul in my hands. Should I bother? 🤔

I was always a Strat-Style player (never an actual Stratocaster). I went through several Kramer guitars and then after a long time of not playing I wound up with an ESP H-1001FR LTD. Great guitar, but I was Les Paul curious. I tried an Epiphone Les Paul Custom (from the Inspired by Gibson Custom) line and fell in love. Something about the neck profile (there are plenty of different necks when it comes to Les Pauls), the fixed bridge (I had always played guitars with a Floyd), and the heft of the guitar (yeah, some LPs are heavy as heck) got to me. I now own 3 LPs (2 Epiphone and 1 Gibson) and I play them more than I play my Strats (I now own an Yngwie signature Stratocastor signed by the maestro himself I will share pictures of here soon).

@Larry Achtman LOL. Thanks. Definitely try a few. Necks go from baseball bats to slim, and some taper along the neck.

Uplifting needed!!
I’m in need of some good uplifting comments, suggestions, any advice or whatever you can think of. I’m trying to shake off a recent loss. I’m cousin and best friend of 45 years passed away. Last time we were together was my daughter’s birthday celebration 4 weeks ago. It was so unexpected we’re all in shock. But I am thankful for this community and music is always great for healing. So any songs, riffs, or whatever send it my way. I need something to do to help keep me distracted. I’ve got my pedal builds to get caught up on too. But I’m glad to have the support from you all, thank you.

Sorry for your loss. You can bury your mind in music and gear and that will help to a point. But sometimes nothing will keep the pain away. When that happens, I pray. If praying isn't your thing, my next suggestion would be journaling. Sometimes just taking the thoughts in your head and putting them on paper helps clear the mind. Who knows, a song may find its way off those papers.
