After taking off the pick guard from my Honeyburst Les Paul, I thought it looked a lot closer to Greeny. So, I decided to put a pair of Top Hat Bell Reflector Knobs (only $2.23 each during StewMac’s recent StewMax sale) to take the look even further. Here are After and Before pics. I’m still not as sure of this as I was taking off the pick guard, but it’s growing on me. Let me know what you think.

Just upgraded tuners on new Gibson Les Paul Studio Session to Grover Locking Tuners. They are the bomb. Restringing is so easy. No worrying about wraps on the post, because there are NONE. You don't even end up with 1 wrap. I was able to get the locking version of the exact same model tuners that it came with; both style and color. Easy upgrade for less than $100.

Yesterday I traded my Gibson LP Studio (Triburst), and my Epiphone Appetite Burst, for a Gibson LPrs Paul Studio Session. Upgrades that convinced me this was the right guitar were: ‘57 Classic/Classic+ pickups, being able to run the pickups out of phase (think Greeny), Ebony Fretboard, Pure Bypass switch, and the Modern Contoured Heel. The pickups sound amazing and it plays so good. The heel cutout takes getting used to, but I already feel more comfortable playing the higher frets. Extra features of the push/pull pots for coil tapping, phase shifting, and bypass provides so many tone combinations. It’s like a Swiss Army Guitar 😎 And lastly, I really like how the color on this one turned out. I feel like it is a mix between Slash’s Jessica and Kirk Hammet’s Greeny. I can’t wait to treat the fretboard, put fresh strings on it, polish it up, and play the heck out of it.

What do you all use to clean your guitars? I’ve picked up a few guitars over the years that look like they have dried sweat on them.

A friend of mine gave me this footswitch box some years ago. It was rattling around in the back of his truck and he wasn’t going to use it for anything. It was originally for an electric piano and had two momentary contact switches in it. So I took it all apart and painted it and added a pair of LEDs. I also replaced the momentary pushbuttons with 3PDT types. Then here is the special part: the LEDs have their own power source, a pair of AA batteries. This means that the LEDs are totally isolated from the amplifier. They are low current LEDs so a pair of batteries will last for years. The wiring of the switches can also be changed so that the unit works with just about any amplifier. It’s currently being used with a Marshall Lead 100 MOSFET. I have subsequently made this mod to some other footswitch boxes I’ve picked up along the way.
