Estimating Jobs
So I quoted another job, and I'm unsure if my bid was low. Its for a construction site, they need someone to remove cardboard that protects the floor. When you give estimate do you take into consideration NEW TOOLS that you must buy? Example, I have to buy a WET VACUUM for this...

Hey Oscar! I’d love to do that call with you tomorrow. Do you prefer a zoom call or a phone call? I’m in Denver in the mountain time zone. I can do anytime before 2pm tomorrow. as for adding tools to a bid, the only time I would do that is if you were renting tools for that job. The vacuum is something you will be able to use in the future so it really can’t be charged to just one job. What makes you think you bid it too low?

Update, I had to reload the Module 1 video in the 30 Day Fast Start Course. It apparently loaded funny or got mixed up transferring from the editing software to skool. I didn't notice the issue until tonight. It should be fixed now but that took time so I am only going to be able to get Module 3 up tonight. The others will be tomorrow night and several more lessons so to speak are being edited. I know this will help someone when I get it all loaded. Hang in there with me!

Good videos
Great videos, just finished the 2 modules. I also came from the Real Estate Industry. I landed my first client for tomorrow, I found them on NEXTDOOR. How should I quote my jobs?

The short answer is to figure out an hourly rate that you would be comfortable with and estimate how long it will take. Don’t share the hourly rate with the customer, just give them the total number for the entire job. Materials need to be marked up if you are driving, shopping and delivering. You need to be paid for that. I’ll be going in to pricing soon but if you want I can schedule a free Skool call with you to help you come up with a strategy. I have evolved to charging for a half day or a full day with a fairly high minimum. I lost a few customers but I’m making more money with a lot less hassle.

Hey Oscar! I'll answer this here in case anyone else has the same question We will be going over this in more detail but I'd like to give you 3 Action Items to work on in the mean time. 1. Friends, Family and current or former Co-workers- Tell everyone what you are planning to do and ask them for referrals and recommendations. 2. Go on Nextdoor.com , register and look for neighbors searching for someone to complete small jobs. Message them directly. Don't reply publicly if you can help it. 3. The old fashioned way that really works in the beginning!- Make a small flyer and distribute it to to 100 houses in your neighborhood or find a new neighborhood and offer assistance with TV hanging, doorbell cameras, ceiling fans, etc. I hope this helps! A typical week in the Life of a successful Handyman
Work scheduled this week of 9-28-2006 Monday- Remove and replace customer supplied rear exterior door including trim and paint. Revenue including small incidental materials and supplies. $1040 Tuesday- Interior painting (2 bedrooms)-full day not including materials-Revenue $875 Wednesday/Thursday- Exterior painting-Two full days-Revenue $1750 Friday-Replace five deck boards including materials-Half day $585 I don't usually do that much painting but it ended up that these two jobs are back to back. This is all out of the backpack with exception of a paint pan and a roller pole. Home by 5 and off on the weekend. How is this possible? Well it wasn't always this way. A lot of mistakes were made and a lot of trial and error was required. Working harder isn't the entire answer. Choosing the right customer, the right job, the right menu of services and the right pricing structure will go a long way and I will show you how to get there quickly.
