Some coaching tips sound rightβ¦ but actually ruin your shot. βPush on your legs.β βJump into the ball.β βUse your hips.β These cues are heard everywhere β and they often do more harm than good. Tennis movement is natural and sequential. When your hand moves first, the arm follows. When the arm follows, the shoulder turns. When everything turns together, the hips naturally come last. Thatβs how the kinetic chain is supposed to work. Forcing the hips first breaks the sequence. Your hand ends up late, your contact point is off, and the shot loses both control and efficiency. Power doesnβt come from forcing body parts β it comes from letting the chain flow in the right order. Whatβs the worst tennis advice youβve ever been given?
