Starting My Timeline.
Will gave me some great advice in starting to really map out my timeline for what I'm wanting to do. We had a good talk about deciding your path and that it's okay if you have to "double back" sometimes. Even though going backward feels like a negative most the time, sometimes you have to do that to get onto the path you need to be going on. And the only way you'd get to that new path, is by going back. If that makes sense.
Networking, Networking, Networking.
Just really worked on reaching out to more people each and every day! Did at least 25 messages every day to different people and was able to get 23 total connects. The goal is to get to 500+ connects, but I've got to start somewhere. Got a lot of really good advice on what I should be doing to really position myself the best I can for this pivot into video game design.
LinkedIn Lead Generation Update
Had what I would say was a good response from someone I talked to yesterday. I said, “I'm currently working on trying to create my first game in Unreal Engine. Is that something you think would help market me to be a better potential candidate for some of the entry-level positions that are out there right now?” He said that sticking to one game and not branching out to a bunch of incomplete games is a good start. He then sent a follow up message that I think moves him into the category of 2 star on my Sheets list. And that was, “Certificates of completion could help too. There are courses on Coursera.” Even though Coursera seems to be paid it might be a small, but great way to set apart myself from others in the competition.
Forward Progression
I really pushed to make sure I could reach out to 25 new LinkedIn connects. Out of those 25 people I reached out to I got 2 replies within 12 hours. So pretty good return on reaching out. Now I need to focus on trying to increase these reach outs from being "one star" connects to "two star" connects. Two star connects just being more of a conversation happening not just a blanketed reply to my initial reach out.
Build What People Want - Chapter 1
Love the way there is a version to be able to read or you can get, what I would call a deep dive, into the topic with the video by Will. Excited to read/watch the next chapter!
