1965 Impala SS w/ a 5.3 and 4l80 The car is a daily driver now for the last 6 months I’ve put 5,000 miles on the car and brought it to about 30 car shows around Washington ,Idaho, and Oregon The biggest win so far is either the good guys next generation award for the show I was at and a top 12 national finalist or I got the young rodder of the year for the greater northwest hot rod hall of fame. I would say the biggest headache was getting the car done in April for the Spokane speed and custom show 3 weeks before the show the car had just gotten a second primer I haven’t ordered interior and it wasn’t wired and with a matter of 20 something days the car came together great and I’ve only gad small issues that have only kept me off the road for at max a couple hours to just checked torque spec or redo small stuff.
Ls swapped 65 Impala SS
Hello I’m a 20 year old car builder out of Washington state over the last 2 years I’ve build my 1965 Impala SS that’s got all new metal around the car since when I got it, it was a rotted out shell of a 65 Impala with no front slip or interior so I shaved firewall , did a custom dash with Dakota digitals to mate up with a 5.3L out of a 99 Silverado and a 4l80 out of a 98 1 ton express van. The tunnel had to be cut and raised up a couple of inches to fit the 4l80 and still lay frame and it’s not easy to see but the engine is on custom motor mounts and tucked as far back into the engine bay as possible. To complete the drive train it’s got a custom drive shaft back to a brand new 3.73 posi unit. I’ve built the car myself so any questions or tips I would love to hear to help spread a little knowledge and hopefully gain some too.
