Y2 motor help?
I just assembled my Genmitsu ProverXL 4030 V2 CNC last night and when I try to jog forward, the left axis where Y1 motor is moves forward but the right side where Y2 motor is doesn’t move the axis. When I check the wiring, I do notice it flashes red obviously telling me it didn’t move and only one side did but I’m not sure if it’s a faulty wire, faulty motor or just something I didn’t do with the assembly. Does anyone have this CNC and can help me troubleshoot? I can take a video to better show what the issue is if that helps troubleshoot. This is literally day 1 of CNC so I literally know nothing about where to even start to fix this.🤔

I tried swapping out the Y1 and Y2 motor cables, swapping out both Y1 and Y2 signal wires on the back of the control board. I tried swapping out each set of wires they had labeled Y1 and Y2 to the other motor. Each thing I tried, Y2 still doesn’t move. I did notice when the wires are plugged in, I see a tiny green light in the motor where the wires go in and I don’t see that one Y2 when it’s plugged in. But after I try to jog and the Y2 side doesn’t move, it does flash a red light in the motor.

@Kenneth McGahee Yes, I’ve reached out to them a few times. They do eventually get back to me but most of the time, one single issue can drag out over a week between the back and forth emails. I think it because they are in the opposite time zone. I wish they can a U.S. based location to answer for them in the U.S. time zones to speed things up. How do you like your V1? I have mixed feelings about mine but I think that only stems from the several issues I had from day 1. But I’m trying to have an open mind and keep pushing forward. I’d like to get a bigger workspace but my only hesitation is they said they don’t have an extension kits using linear rails and I’m wondering if the rollers will give me an issue if I extend with the same machine. Sometimes my rollers on the y2 skip and it causes issues.
Best beginner machine
I’m already having regrets getting a Genmitsu ProverXL 4030 V2 as I’m pretty sure it arrived with a bad motor. I’ve tried everything under the sun and have noticed all other motors have a green light when connected and my Y2 motor does not, only blinks red when it won’t move and gives me an alarm. I paid around $1500 for it so I was thinking it would be decent to start on but I guess you get what you pay for. I’m thinking of sending it back and just biting the bullet and buying a better machine. What would be a good starter CNC that y’all would recommend?

@Slim Mab I’ve sent out a few emails to support but haven’t gotten a reply yet from Genmitsu. A few people said I probably won’t get a reply due to the Chinese new year that’s until mid February. I hope that they don’t take that long to reply. It has been frustrating because the machine is literally useless and I expected to be able to be working on it by now and with them not replying makes a not so great first impression. I might look into a new machine as I probably should’ve went with a more reliable company but with the good reviews, I didn’t think I’d get ghosted by a company. I mostly will be making cutting boards, different trinket trays, maybe flags. Things that I can then use my laser to engrave. But who knows maybe I’ll get into bigger projects too. But I’ll probably start with smaller projects until I get the hang of the CNC and go from there.

@Wayne Precht I did hear back from support. Thankfully they were able to troubleshoot it based on my videos and are sending me a new stepper motor. Hopefully I’ll have it by the weekend. Fingers crossed everything goes smooth After this. I mean the machine looks like it’s built well and I upgraded to the 710w spindle with WiFi controller so once I get the new motor, I’m hoping it will be good from there.

This community is all about helping each other grow, learn, and create with CNC machines—whether you’re just starting or looking to take your skills to the next level. Here’s a little about me: - I’ve been working with CNC machines for 10 years, building a business and helping others do the same. - My favorite thing about CNC is turning a simple design into a product that people love. - Fun fact: I love Bourbon and Tequila, and have over 100 bottles in my collection/stash Now it’s your turn! In the comments, let us know: - Your name and where you’re from - What stage are you at in your CNC journey (just starting, hobbyist, business owner, etc.)? - What you’re most excited to create or learn with CNC - A fun fact about yourself! Hey everyone, my name is Sarah and I am not your average girl. I love woodworking and running my laser. I started my journey with a cricut and made sublimation shirts and tumblers. Somehow I went down a rabbit hole and ended up buying my first desktop laser. After learning it and relocating to Texas, I upgraded my laser to a commercial co2 laser. I have an Etsy shop and go to craft markets and do pretty well. I’m hoping to amp my business by learning the CNC. I’m starting off with a Genmitsu ProverXL 4030 V2 CNC and if I can figure it out, maybe get something else down the road.

@Slim Mab I’m having an issue with one axis not moving in the CNC after assembly, but once I get it up and running, I am most definitely interested in taking the CIC course.

I am a wife, mother, OR nurse and proud owner of a laser engraving company & also dabble with woodworking. I just ordered my first CNC and can’t wait.
