Hi everyone! I am creating a new course "History: The Human Story of Technology". I decided to work with Claude to create my slide deck and a handout for students. I carefully crafted the instructions to Claude, gave it sources and it produced an awesome slide deck and handout. Upon sharing it with my students I received a very strong backlash of disapproval and distain. I took a quick poll with Engageli tools and asked my students to vote "YAY" or "NAY" as to whether or not we should employ the use of AI to assist - not replace our learning and teaching. The polls results were 50/50. Welcoming your thoughts and your ideas as to how to respond to this backlash and continue to avail myself of the tremendous resource AI can be for us as Mentors.

Hi Robyn! I LOVE having your son in my class! He is such a natural leader, and I really appreciate the energy, confidence, and ideas he brings to our class. And thank you for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate hearing your perspective. I think you’re right—this generation is much more comfortable with technology and often sees AI as simply another tool that can make things easier and more streamlined. As educators, I think we’re all trying to find that sweet spot in this new AI world—figuring out how to use these tools to enhance learning without letting them do the thinking for our students. I’m learning SO much in the process! Thanks for being part of this conversation.

In our last AI for ALL, Danelle highlighted how AI could never replace the value and importance of in person educators. Later that day, I say a news clip about the first AI teacher, "Sally", in western New York. I can't imagine a day where students are taught by bots exclusively but this definitely caught my attention and seems "Sally" is becoming part of our brave new world. https://www.foxnews.com/video/6401736424112
