Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been so MIA here in the WWR of late. It’s been a season of transition as I am now bi-vocational serving as a pastor unpaid and starting a new job in real estate. The last month has been taking 90 hours of classes and passing my real estate licensing exam so haven’t had a lot of time to write or listen or comment here. How’s everyone doing?

Sheeeew that’s a big transition, Jon! Welcome back soon:) I’ve been equally quiet with a full season of kids’ school ending and preparing to lead a few conferences/performances. Hannah and I finished up our On That Day song (recording coming soon!), I’m fine-tooth-combing a song collab for an end of June event, and I’m finalizing and rehearsing a spoken word duet for the same event! It’s been a full creative season, but I hope to be able to listen to more of the songs from this creative group in the near future:)
On That Day - Congregational Song About Jesus Second Coming
Hello! @Sarah Steele and I have been working on this song about Jesus' second coming, based off of Malachi 4:1-3 and Zechariah 12. We would love your input on the lyrics more specifically, there are some spots where we can't find the right phrase. If you have any other input about the overall song that you think should be reworked please let us know. Thanks! VERSE 1 When you appear in glory, You will break open the skies. All of your foes will tremble, For the Victor has arrived! And when you appear in power, You will set creation free. All of the earth will worship And will shout its jubilee! // For the end of suffering --or-- And when you appear in power With a voice of roaring seas We will fall down and worship At the sound of your decree --or-- And when you appear in power With a face of blazing sun We will fall down and worship For the/our victory is won CHORUS On that day, we will see the Living Cornerstone. On that day, you will wipe our tears away. On that day, every knee will bow before your throne Oh, how we long, how we long — for that day! VERSE 2 When you appear with fire, You will rectify all wrong. Sin will be crushed forever, For your righteous hand is strong. And when you appear in splendor, Mighty angels by your side, You’ll bring us home to Heaven, For you’ve purified your bride. BRIDGE Come, Lord Jesus, come, oh come! (We are waiting here for you.) Come, Lord Jesus, come, oh come! (Come and make all things new.) Come, Lord Jesus, come, oh come! (We are waiting here for you) Come, Lord Jesus, All: Jesus, come, oh come! FINAL CHORUS On that day, you will rise with healing in your wings On that day, the dead will rise in victory?? // we will stand before our King?? On that day, ever near, you fin’lly will appear. Oh, how we long, how we wait To see the dawn of that day When you will make all things new—on that day!

(Maybe both the first and second line of the chorus need to be adjusted…)

Taste And See
This song is based off of Psalm 34. Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Verse 1 As we come to Your table with our hunger and our thirst We come longing for more than bread alone We are led to Your feast where now our cup will overflow Taste and see all the goodness He has shown Chorus Oh taste and see that the Lord is good Our Shepherd King giving all we need In our highest joys, through our deepest pain Oh taste and see that the Lord is good Verse 2 Many are the afflictions of the righteous ones You’ve called Oh how long will this heavy trial last? I will cry for Your help Yes He will hear our every plea You will hold us until these nights are past Verse 3 Come and sing of His praises every morning day and night With each breath bless the Lord in all your days I will sing in the valleys, I will sing on mountain tops Through the joys, through the pain I lift my praise

I just kept thinking about how beautiful it would be to sing this song before sharing communion. Which might lead you away from Psalm 34 if you wanted to get into a verse on confession of sin and maybe the third verse on unity among believers as something to be considered before partaking. I realize that is an entirely different direction than the song currently is. Just letting you know how that first verse and chorus struck me in my spirit!
Welcome! Introduce yourself + share a pic of where you write.

Grave Robbery - words seeking music…
Hi friends, I wrote this poem. I’m not sure if it needs music, but thought I’d share in case it serves anyone. I thought there were some cool ideas in here. Thanks! Grave Robbery: Two nights ago, they killed him — I laid him in the hallowed earth, But took my sorrow back with me. I rise, red-eyed, to face this dawn. I’ll go to weep a little bit. Perhaps … to heal my wounded soul. … My feet draw near with reverent pace. But then my heart stands still. My blood runs cold! A blackness yawns before my eyes. It’s been disturbed! I gasp --- Grave robbery!? … Red eyes see red! To steal the dead!? What monster could disturb a tomb? Perhaps it’s some mistake, I think And whirl about. Did no one see? … I chase him down -- the groundskeeper! Perhaps he knows? He turns to me. His eyes meet mine and as they do, mine open wide! My heart - not dead? - bursts from the womb! … What seemed a nightmare slithers off! Death slips its grip! Its fangs are drawn! My King has stolen joy from Death, For Death itself has been despoiled! … The vanquished stands victorious! And Horror’s dearest plans are foiled! The Son has risen with the sun! And wears no shroud, clothed in the dawn! … For in one instant, all has changed. And with a twinkle in his eye, He looks at me. I have not lost and never will. He takes my hand to lead me forth Away from grief. … We step into the light of day As clouds, like banners, fill the sky. I know belief. We leave behind an empty tomb as we go out, Rejoicing in … Grave robbery!

It’s been stuck in my head for days, so I added a third part to it. I’m such a harmony junkie😅 (though there’s one note I’m still unsure of). Technically, I don’t have time to be playing with this song right now, and yet here we are.
