So, picture this: the historical records on Mikao Usui and the birth of Reiki are about as scarce as a unicorn sighting. We're relying heavily on word-of-mouth and campfire stories here! Usui's early escapades, his journey into the mystical realm, and the nitty-gritty details of his teachings are all wrapped in a cloak of mystery, leaving us scratching our heads and craving more. Now, onto the pièce de résistance—the legendary tale of Usui's divine light bulb moment during his epic 21-day mountain retreat. It's like something out of a fantasy novel, right? But hold your horses, because this story lacks a bit of oomph in the evidence department. No contemporary records or eyewitness accounts? Cue the skeptics. Hello everyone, My name is Celesta. I’m fairly new to my spiritual journey although I’ve categorized myself in the spiritual category over organized religion for at least a decade. I grew up in a very LDS family and it never sat quite right with me. I am a single parent of 3 kids and 2 of my children have severe autism. It is definitely one of my big motivators in learning reiki and everything else that I can to try and give them the best life possible. We live in a really small town Colorado City, AZ. It is actually located sort of in the back of Zion national park and is a very beautiful area. I’ve always been drawn to helping people and I’d like to use my gifts to help as many people as I can while also making sure I take care of myself in the process because that’s not something I am used to doing. I was recently told that if I’m going to fill other people’s cup I need to do it with the over flow after I fill my own cup and I’m really excited to be here and learn and heal along side all of you amazing souls! Hello Reiki Community, My name is Sarah Janicki and I reside in the beautiful state of Montana, USA just an hour from Yellowstone National Park. I completed my Reiki Level 1 in August of 2023 with the intention of starting a practice. Life happened and fast forward to June 2025 I have officially started my Reiki practice in the town I live in. I’m the only one offering this openly in the mainstream of this small Montana town that I know of.
