Hi Everyone 👋 A member of our lovely community here replied to my post (𝗔 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀), with something that's been rattling around in my head this morning 🤣 He talked about Mara, the Buddhist name for that voice that tells you to give up. And Satan, in the Christian story, doing the same to Jesus in the desert. Both of them were told...... "This is pointless. Just go back to your old life." That made me pause....... Not because I'm clever..... Because I know that voice. Maybe you do too. Not in a desert. Not on a mountain. Just on a random Tuesday when you're trying to change something , a habit, a relationship, your health, your sobriety, your patience with your kids. And something inside whispers: "Why bother? You'll fail anyway. Go back to how it was." That's Mara. That's Satan. Call it whatever you want.......The same tired voice. So here's my question. What does that voice sound like to you? And what do you do when you hear it? One word. One sentence. A story. Whatever you've got. I'll go first: it sounds like my own voice, but meaner. And I usually just breathe and do the next tiny thing , make the tea, send the text, write the post....even if I don't believe it'll work. Your turn.
