Very cute 🥰
Hello
Just thought that I would introduce myself, I am Sara and I have been working with Metal Clay since 2015. I am an accredited ArtClay instructor who teaches beginner classes in London. I have also got another persona of Fused Glass Cabs Ltd which came about due to a silver clay and glass course that I took. Just in case you didn't know glass can be fired in situ with silver clay 😁 I have aquired a huge amount of knowledge over the past 11 years and I am always happy to help 🥰

@Tracey Bickle Yes small pieces can be torched but you need to invest in some fibre blanket to avoid thermal shock. Would you like me to record a demo?
Mixing metals
Hi everyone. Sorry I've been quiet, had a bereavement this week amongst other things so I've been totally out of the game. I'm thinking of experimenting with different bronze shades in the same peice. Apart from keeping an eye on shrinkage and being smart with that, has anyone else successfully done this? Any examples :)

@Lyndsey Loydon you may want to have a look at some of Hadar Jacobson books or information on line. She was one of the first to make her own clays and do mixed metal clay work 😉

White bronze
My first test strip of white bronze clay…. Epic fail!! 🫩 totally not sintered, I even fired it for half an hour longer than the instructions said!!

@Jen Slough The sterling white is better than the original! I have had lot's of success with white bronze from different suppliers, I have a test piece of Project X to fire as I had only used their old formular (5 star)

@Jen Slough it would appear so, but I have a sneaking suspicion that people are using a brass brush rather than a steel one so maybe they are getting transference from the brush! I will be making a few more bits as want to use the whole packet or it will end up in the dried clay graveyard 😂
Is it a stupid question?
Hey lovely people, Never be afraid of asking the Stupid Question! Everyone has to start somewhere, not everyone is an expert and very experienced. I remember the first time I asked a question on a metal clay group on facebook and was shocked and appalled the way some of the very experienced people responded to me. In fact one person even DM'd me after posting their response to say sorry and they forgot that a newbie might not know a simple thing. Be bold and ask the question! And remember that FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning 😉
