📣 Language coaches! How do you measure and show client progress?
I’d love to hear how other language coaches make progress visible for their clients. A relatively new client recently told me that being able to clearly see and track their progress is really important for their motivation—which makes complete sense. Until now, I’ve mainly documented progress through feedback emails after our sessions (sentence corrections, vocabulary, recurring patterns, etc.). But this client doesn’t really have time to read detailed emails, and the format doesn’t necessarily help them see how they’re developing over time. So I’m curious: How do you measure progress, especially in one-to-one coaching focused on professional communication rather than moving through traditional language levels? Do you use regular assessments, self-reflection, recordings, specific communication goals, or something else? I’d especially love to hear about approaches that are simple for the client to follow and don’t create a huge amount of extra admin for the coach 🙃. Thank you! 🫶

@Joana Nucci super interesting, thanks for sharing! Do you mind me asking how you structure the document?

@Joana Nucci thank you! 🙏
Hi! 👋
Hey everyone! I’m an English and Intercultural Communication coach based in Germany, working with German professionals who use English in international work environments 😊 I’ve been self-employed for around six years, offering one-on-one coaching and online learning resources. At the moment, I’m working on turning everything I’ve created into a more structured and scalable coaching program—while also learning how to communicate the value of my work more confidently and attract the right clients. I’m really excited to have access to this community. Self-employment can feel so lonely sometimes 🥲, especially when you’re trying to make big decisions without anyone to bounce ideas off of. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone, sharing experiences, and hopefully getting to know some of you along the way!
