Can I Be Honest With You Today?
Dear Cherished Caregivers, Can I be honest with you today? This morning hit me hard with overwhelm. I overcommitted, deadlines are closing in, and I feel like I wasted the morning doing nothing that moved me closer to the things I need to finish. I am almost in tears. This isn’t even a caregiving moment, it’s business overwhelm, trying to fit in learning, summits, two lives, and a recording due next week. My head is full of ideas and I cannot seem to organize them. I told myself it was okay to rest after taking last weekend off, but now I feel behind. I work full time, and right now I am just… overwhelmed. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. We all have days like this, sometimes more often than we want. Overwhelm, grief, sadness, they come. It is okay to feel them, and it is okay to tell someone. Today I am holding on to 2 Timothy 1:7, for God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I’m telling myself this prayerful affirmation: I will be extraordinary, not average, bold, not timid. I’m giving myself permission to step back today, to pray, and to rest so I can come back tomorrow ready to record. The materials are ready, I just need calm to put them together. I’ll do a quick 5-Minute Caregiver Reset: take three slow breaths with my sniff stick with the blend Peaceful Pause (inspired by and blended for a member), read the verse out loud, drink a glass of water, and roll my shoulders. Five minutes can be a little lifeline when everything feels too big. If you want to share, please do. Post a comment, make a separate post, or just drop an emoji that matches how you feel right now. If you’re okay, a smiley face. If you’re having one of those days, pick the emoji that fits. No pressure, only a safe place. Thank you for listening. If you are in this moment too, I see you, and I am praying for peace and clarity for both of us. Tomorrow I will try again, one small step at a time. Blessings 💜
Self-care Awareness Month BINGO
Thanks to @Susan Lowe for making me aware of this most important month. I would like to start a challenge with the attached Bingo Card. Everyone should be able to open it up and have your own card. Every time you complete one of the selfcare tips on the card (if you have time come and make a comment), if you have to save a few up you can, but please me them individual comments on this post. The more comments you make and posts that you like and comment on will move you up the leaderboard. There are some additional tips in Level 2. I'm working on Level 3 and you will want to be Level 4 by October. Let's have some fun and celebrate Self-care Awareness Month by caring for ourselves and sharing it with others, it might encourage someone. What selfcare tip on the care you most excited to try? P.S. I created this with Claude Artifacts and you will download you own copy. Have fun!
