The Void - Pure Lovecraftian Nightmare Fuel
Hey cosmic horror fanatics! Just rewatched The Void (2016) I almost forgot how weird it is. This Canadian indie gem is hands down one of my favorites! Even though it looks a little old already (yup almost 10 years). For the ones who didn't watch it yet, here is a small plot: a small group of people trapped in a hospital, surrounded by mysterious hooded cultists (because why not), while reality itself starts breaking down around them. What starts as a siege thriller quickly descends into pure cosmic madness. Why this movie is cosmic horror perfection for me: - Body horror on the dot (You will like if you enjoyed The Substance) - Interdimensional beings that are genuinely incomprehensible and terrifying - Practical effects that are both disgusting and beautiful - That creeping dread of ancient forces beyond human understanding - A finale that goes full eldritch nightmare Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie clearly understand what makes cosmic horror work - it's not just about tentacles and madness, it's about that overwhelming sense that we're insignificant specks in a universe full of things we were never meant to understand. When I watched it the first time I didn't know about the genre, but now that I'm trying to understand it better, I like it so much more! Anyone else brave enough to dive into The Void? What did you think of those mind-bending final scenes? (Tag spoilers if you want to talk about it)

@Nicole Rojas Any movie really. Scary ones are definitely better on gloomy days though. You?

@Nicole Rojas Yes those are good! There’s supposed to be another coming out this year! Welcome to Derry (IT prequel) in October I think.
