Horse camping darrington wa
If you think mountain bikes and horses can get along, come camp at Snohomish County’s Whitehorse Campground. There’s some nice horse corrals that no one ever uses. There’s access to the Whitehorse Trail and North Mountain. Would be good early season riding, the snow melts sooner than the surrounding mountains. ļæ¼ There’s beautiful views of the surrounding glaciated peaks. A great chance to see them without being on the cliff’s edge.ļæ¼https://maps.app.goo.gl/bKLd3y5hj9N3xoZX7?g_st=ic

@Shane Zettle I heard a rumor it doesn’t have direct access to trails. Could be a good resource for traveling with horses

Margaret McKenny and Middle Waddell Campgrounds and Day Use Areas will not open for the Summer 2026 season due to public safety risks from hazard trees. Two popular campgrounds and day use areas managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will not reopen for the Summer 2026 season due to hazard trees in the area. Margaret McKenny and Middle Waddell Campgrounds and Day Use Areas are in Capitol State Forest in Thurston County, near Olympia, Washington and are popular recreation sites for hikers, campers, equestrians, and motorized use. Both sites typically open for the season on May 1. Middle Waddell contains 33 campsites, and Margaret McKenny includes 20 sites. Day Use areas and trailheads located at both campgrounds will also be closed for the time being. While doing routine inspections of the area, DNR staff determined that a significant number of trees in the area were infected with laminated root rot. The trees pose a public safety risk and are hazardous. To effectively remove the trees, the areas must remain closed for hazard tree mitigation. DNR advises recreators to seek other opportunities in the area, and to avoid areas closed due to safety hazards. Dispersed camping is not permitted in Capitol State Forest. DNR’s website will be updated as work progresses, and following reopening of the sites: https://dnr.wa.gov/forest-and-trust-lands/capitol-state-foresthttps://dnr.wa.gov/forest-and-trust-lands/capitol-state-forest

Horsemanship clinic @ Clark County Fair
Hello all! Joel has been a mentor for me for 10+ years. He follows the work of the Dorrance Brothers, Ray Hunt and Buck Brannaman and is an incredible teacher of his craft. I’ve trained for one of the biggest rescues (Sound Equine Options) for over 10 years and I can tell you with out a doubt that learning from Joel has kept me safe and kept the passion for working with horses alive. Groundwork, to safety to refinement; a foundation with building blocks that all work together to guide horses into being balanced, emotionally regulated, confident and empowered. Auditing is $30 but we also still have a few openings in both the groundwork and riding classes. The community Joel has built and the horsemanship we are all learning makes this clinic one of the most fun and uplifting clinics as well. We all support each other and laugh through our struggles. If you are interested please reach out with any questions via email or phone.

I’ve rode with Joel in numerous Buck Brannaman clinics. He always hosts awesome clinics as well!
Let’s actually get to know each other in here šŸ‘‡
As communities grow, it gets harder to know who people really are behind the profile. So let’s fix that šŸ‘‡ Let’s keep this simple: → where are you from? → one thing you enjoy outside of horses → something random or interesting about you Drop a quick intro below šŸ‘‡ would be good to know who’s in here
