Common Kingfisher
I came across this little bird and honestly, this little creature feels like something out of a painting. The common kingfisher is small, but incredibly powerful. They can dive into the water at speeds up to 25 mph to catch fish, and it depends on clean, clear water to survive. What amazed me most is how it sees. They have a special transparent eyelid that acts like goggles when it dives, and its eyes are designed to see both above and below the water. Even their colors are a bit of magic. That bright blue isn’t actually pigment…it’s light reflecting off its feathers. A tiny bird… built with precision and beauty. How incredible is this masterpiece of nature? πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ€

Beautiful .... if my memory serves me correctly the female beaks are more brightly colored than the males . Seeing a kingfisher is often considered a good luck symbolising impending fortune, peace and abundance as well as courage, freedom and a balanced approach to life's challenges.
My Herd
Here are a few pictures of my babies. My boy Porkchop passed away 2 months ago he was 14 yrs old. If an animal can be considered a soulmate it was him. He was perfect in ALL ways. I love and miss him terribly. Through him is what instilled in me a passion to rescue and re-home as many pigs as possible. Because of Porkchop, I have been able to help 100's of pigs in need in some fashion whether it be transport, vet bills, feed, behavior training, rescue and re-home. This is also what brought my attention to farm animals in general and their need for compassion and understanding. The lack of knowledge/compassion and farm vets is a complete mind f*** to me. The need is great for all of humanity to advocate. I wish more would. First set of pictures is Rosie ... 2nd set is Porkchop and the 3rd is Petunia

Happy National Frog Day! 🐸
Just a quick fun post to celebrate these little creatures. Frogs play such an important role in our ecosystems and are often a sign of a healthy environment. Plus… they are just fun to watch and their songs are joy to lull you asleep. 😊 If you hear one today, take a moment to listen and send some love. Little acts add up. This is a gift from my coworker. How sweet is this!

@LM Sharron OMG I am dying with laughter right now .... TEARS ... I almost spit water everywhere .... I actually had green tree frogs .... I live in Florida so they are everywhere .... I was in my shower one day minding my own business when one decided to jump onto my shoulder. Scared the daylights out of me sent me running through the house wet and yes naked as well as screaming. My neighbors heard the noise I was making and came over to help me in my distress .... when I told them I had been attacked in the bathroom they went to investigate. They came out laughing at me obnoxiously and held out there hands to show me my attacker.( The prettiest green tree frog ever. ) I tried to rehome this lil baby in my backyard but he kept coming back in and was kind enough to bring a few friends. I finally caved and bought a tank .... decorated it all fancy and provided a home for them. These babies ate crickets. They would pounce on them ... like a lion would a lamb in the wild. They loved to be held ( who knew right ) and were a delight to watch at night when they would play. My friends literally call me the new age snow white because I have this knack to attract animals of all kinds and get them to do things others cant. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
A Little Weekend Invitation
After sharing the last couple of posts about the quiet ways animals benefit us, I have been thinking about how animals naturally slow us down. They live fully in the present moment, and when we spend time with them, we often find ourselves there too. Like me this morning getting a later start because my meows deserved some attention. Or was that demanded... same thing in cat language. I am inviting you to join me this weekend by stepping outside for a few minutes and noticing the animals around you. Watch the birds. Listen for the sounds of wildlife. Spend a little extra time with a pet. Sometimes the smallest moments reconnect us to something peaceful. Little acts add up. Heading out now for some me/nature time. Enjoy your Saturday. 😊

My pigs live in my home. Porkchop even slept with me. He was my first and is what got me into rescue. He was my soulmate as far as pets go.

They are very emotional and social animals. Very loving. They are my safe place. The joy and unconditional love they give to me can only be described as a gift from God. πŸ’œ

Our fellow community member, Butterfly Love, shared this stunning and fascinating information with me yesterday about the Greenland shark, and I wanted to pass it along to all of you. Did you know about the Greenland sharks? These mysterious animals live in the icy waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic. Scientists believe they are the longest-living vertebrates ever discovered. Researchers studying the Greenland shark estimate that some individuals may live close to 500 years more. One of the sharks examined in a scientific study was estimated to be around 392 years old. Just imagine that for a moment. A shark alive today may have been swimming the oceans in the early 1600s… long before modern cities, long before most of the world we know today even existed. Even more incredible, these sharks grow extremely slowly and may not reach maturity until they are around 150 years old. Their slow pace of life in the deep, cold Arctic waters seems to be part of what allows them to live for centuries. Nature never stops reminding us how extraordinary life on this planet truly is. Butterfly Love, thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of wonder with our community. Moments like this help us remember that the oceans still hold ancient lives and quiet mysteries worth protecting. Little acts add up. Curiosity leads to care. And care leads to protection. πŸŒŽπŸ‹ **Greenland sharks can grow 11–13 feet long and weigh over 1,000 pounds. The cloudy eye often seen is caused by a tiny parasite that attaches to the surface of the eye.**
