What battles do you face?
I answered a question in this group the other day: Jump Academy It was regarding that time between classes at a show and how to mentally prepare for the 2nd class. What are the things that stress you out, whether that be at a show or at home? Maybe oddly nervous before doing something you've done a hundred times? Maybe it's when you go to ride when you think your horse might be fresh?

2 battles that I face at shows are: -timing. I will be very calm and relaxed if I know I have time before I have to warm up and I will take my time tacking up to remain in that headspace, but if all of a sudden the class is running ahead and I donโ€™t have time anymore and I need to rush, I find I get very stressed and itโ€™s hard for me to stay in that previous mindset and I know my horse is going to feel what Iโ€™m feeling. -competitors. I find that when Iโ€™m in the same class as a friend or former teammate (especially when we are close in order) it puts me under more pressure than I would like and I end up making dumb mistakes and not doing my best as my focus is not there due to their presence.

The podcast episode for the above module is on its way, but for now, enjoy the text content. If you're on the Standard plan, you can find it here. Or if you're extra committed to improving your mental strength and have gone all-in with Premium, you can find it here.

This module was very helpful for me as I tend to get flustered over even the smallest mistakes (especially if it happens more than once). After I ride, whether itโ€™s at home or at a show, I will watch my videos over and over again and point out little mistakes/ what I could do better next time that maybe I didnโ€™t notice while I was riding or my coach pointed out, but I will also point out what I thought was good and start to see what my coach said was good as well. I find this helps calm me a little afterwards and I will make a plan and keep it at the front of my mind to fix those mistakes or keep doing what was good for the next day/ride
