Group Question
How would you guys feel about a live creative workflow session where I create with you in real time. I could either make a beat. A song. Mix a track. Chop a sample Anything that would currently bring you mega value. You’ll be able to watch me in real time do what I do best, Create! - You can ask questions during the live - Send me loops or samples. - Would need at least 5 people keen for me to run the first one! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! - Spike

Hey gang, We're heading into the weekend here! I'm wishing you all a restful one. This is gonna sound crazy but I like to delete Facebook and Instagram on Sat/Sun to take a break from socials and just try connect with humans on a human level! Give it try! It feels scary but your brain feels fresh for Monday when you hit the socials again. DONT FORGET MEETING ON GOOGLE MEETS AT 1PM MONDAY EST AUSTRALIA That will probably be on a Sunday night for all you playing in the states. @Andy Gregory So in the video they're using Logic, but I don't think they're offering a download template. They're showing you how to logically organize your tracks, loaded and ready to play, while gainstaging plugins and levels as you go. So that when you open a project you're ready to rock. I used to spend 1-2 hours at the beginning of every project just setting shit up and sometimes, after you're done with all that either the inspiration is gone or you've used up all your fucks to give for the day... and it just becomes another file on your hard drive. You can follow along in Ableton and just do all the same stuff. I think they're using a lot of UADx plugins, which you can get from a Spark subscription. I recently cancelled my Slate and others and primarily use Spark UAD plugins as opposed to Waves and so on for the most common ones like LA-2A, API, Neve emulations etc. It's ok if you don't know what any of those mean either, you will learn through experience. There are certain plugins that are mainstays because they are digital emulations of classic analog hardware that defined the sounds we still use today. UAD actually manufactured alot of that gear so it makes sense that theirs are the best emulations. These plugins/gear add a certain set of harmonics and saturation, compression, EQ, whatever the case, that has stood the test of time because our human brains find it pleasing for whatever reasons. In the studio I work at we actually have a lot of the gear but we still choose to use the plugins because it's way easier to set up, sounds the same, and you can change them later or add automation. It's more for impressing the client if u actually have them haha.

@Spike Leo Totally agree as well, and thanks for the shoutout. As someone who has done mixes for some of the major labels even though I'm not a mixer, and currently working in sales and marketing for a studio, there are certain precautions to take when getting your stuff mixed by someone else. Even if you're going to send your trax out to be mixed and mastered there are certain ways to get the results you want, otherwise the mixing engineer is just gonna put their own spin on it, or go to whatever reference tracks you sent, and every song is different. Get the trax as CLOSE as possible to what you want, and then send two sets of tracks over, one wet and one dry. So the engineer has the option to use yours, or take the dry and expand upon your vision. Also another pro tip is label your tracks very well, and when you bounce, add the track number to the front, 1, Kick, 2 Clap, 3 Snare, etc. This way the engineer's ear won't fatigue because they can drop the tracks in and get straight to mixing. It's scientifically proven that your brain will ignore problems, and even quantize timing after a few listens. On that note it also helps to send FX returns (just the FX portions 100% wet) if you have the time.💯

Lalal.AI
I've been using this site for probably the last year or so! I really enjoy it for extracting vocals and have used it in tandem with Suno. Often, I'll get the full song off Suno and then run it through Lalal.ai to extract certain parts or an acapella vocal, and it does a pretty damn good job. Another way I use it is by ripping a vocal from Splice or other samples, even vinyl samples. It's great to be able to chop up pieces of music, extract just a synth or guitar from your favorite track, import it into your project, and make it new! It really brings a lot of flexibility to sampling, and the quality of stem splitting is impressive (believe it or not, there's a boatload of A.I. applications out there that now do it). But for now, I'm loyal to Lalal.ai
