Maternity leave?
Hey guys! This is really just a question I'm looking for opinions on. I'm a brand new baby beginner wedding hairstylist , and my books for 2026 are pretty empty still.. don't worry we're staying positive over here lol. I'm also currently three months pregnant and am due may 25. My initl plan was to not take any weddings for the month of june and get back at it in july. However , inquiries and bookings have been so low and now i have a bride who wants to book and move forward with the deposit for the date of june 20.. If I take it , I have to put in a pregnancy clause which I already know.. but my question is , are there any stylists on here who have done a wedding so close to their due date ? What would be your advice on moving forward with this ? Should I just say im not available? Thanks for any input!

Personally I would say you’re not available. I wish I’d done less in my first year even. Of course it’s so scary for freelancers to take time off I really feel you. I did a red carpet job when my baby was 5 weeks old and when I look back I think I was a lunatic!! Enjoy your first few weeks (if you financially can) and as much of those last weeks before they arrive too. I pivoted from media to bridal as it makes more sense with a baby so it’s been a lot of change for me but you’ve got this and enjoy your baby. It’s a rollercoaster ride the first year! X
