NEWSLETTER #3 - Waqar Khan - What Every Future Energy Leader Should Know About Strategy
Such an insightful read. A few key reflections stood out for me: Too often, strategies fall short not because of poor vision but because leaders overlook the risks tied to execution. Vision alone is not enough anticipating challenges is just as important. Leadership also demands more than delegation. Taking time to understand the systems and technologies behind decisions enables leaders to steer with clarity and confidence. Above all, strategy without a clear grasp of stakeholder interests is incomplete. Sustainable impact lies in aligning vision with the people it affects. Remember, we are creating solutions that will be used by the people. Lastly, strategy demands that you do something different.
@Emilio Faulmata Alright then. I look forward to learning more from him.

🚨 PARIS NEXT WEEK – YOUR CHANCE TO FEATURE ON THE TEE360 PODCAST 🚨
Greetings, To Amina Benkhadra: Morocco is positioning itself at the intersection of gas, renewables, and green hydrogen. What hard trade-offs has she had to make between energy security, affordability and decarbonization. What lessons should emerging African producers take from those decisions? To Ian Cloke, Afentra’s purpose emphasizes responsibly bridging Africa’s hydrocarbons to a renewable future while supporting socio-economic growth. So my question is; are they focused on building an African Energy Transition that serves Africa or one that simply aligns Africa with global expectations? If the answer is to the first case (one that serves Africa), how is Afentra implementing it?
After hearing Sherif Foda speak today, what stayed with you most?
My biggest personal takeaway from the session: A lot of things in energy aren’t impossible — they’re a question of will, execution, and economics. Today, we covered everything from building NESR to leadership, energy transition, and scaling in complex markets. What stayed with you most? Drop your thoughts and reflections in the comments You can find the session recording on the classroom section of the community! And if you enjoyed the session make sure to comment and repost the following post on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/posts/emiliofaulmata_just-this-afternoon-it-was-a-pleasure-to-share-7450232579431034881-dJKo?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAADjn5nwBjGCda-BdkFMTt_ppLAzriqsNUxU

Got a question for a $2B energy CEO?
Next week, 15th April we’re going live with Sherif Foda, CEO of NESR. As part of the Future Energy Leaders Network, you’ll get priority access to ask him questions directly. Drop your best question below in the comments👇 I’ll select 3 people to go first on the live call. If you want to stand out, to prep your questions, watch the podcast episode we filmed in August 2025 — where Sherif breaks down how he built NESR into a $1.2B company. Video below: And make sure you’re following us on YouTube.
You have demonstrated that a regional company like NESR can compete globally at the highest level. What do you believe are the biggest mental or structural barriers preventing more service companies from emerging out of regions like Africa, Arabia? Beyond financial growth, what kind of legacy are you intentionally building through NESR and how does that influence the decisions you make today? How can an emerging professional stand out in the oil and gas sector? What skills can set one apart in this sector?
