Why Visibility Feels So Unsafe For So Many People
A lot of people think they struggle with visibility because they lack confidence - but that's not it. I see so many people struggling with this who appear and often are brilliantly confident, outgoing and successful. For many people, being seen has felt emotionally unsafe for a very long time. - Maybe you were judged when you spoke up, at school, at work, online or at home. - Or maybe you were criticised for getting something wrong. - Made to feel “too much”, too sensitive, too loud, too emotional. - Maybe you learned early on that it was safer to stay quiet, stay agreeable, not draw attention to yourself. - Maybe you were physically attacked for doing nothing at all. School environments, family dynamics, social groups, and workplaces — all of these experiences shape the nervous system. So years later, even posting online, speaking publicly, sharing your work, sending a message, or expressing an opinion can trigger the same protective response in the body. Not because you’re weak. Not because you’re incapable. But because some part of you learned: “Being visible might not be safe for me.” This is why logic alone often doesn’t shift it. You can know you “should” be able to do this. You know that you’re capable. And yet the body reacts so strongly it keeps you stuck, frozen, procrastinating, turning down opportunities - so you avoid it, overthink it, or disappear afterwards. That is your body's way of protecting you. It doesn't know that this could be safe for you. Tomorrow we're going to learn some nervous system tools — so that the next time you feel those familiar thoughts and reactions arise, you have a toolkit to use in real time. I wish I'd had this in my previous career. So many moments would have been so much easier to navigate. I’d love to know — what activates you most?

@Anniki Sommerville Thanks for sharing Anniki. It must be so hard and only natural that you can't keep a protective barrier up against real-life trolls all the time. We're all human, and it hurts. Even though it says more about them than it ever could about you, it hits those parts of us that are most vulnerable.
What's your preferred time for group tapping?
Hi everyone - I hope you're having a good week. I'll be done with jury service this week - phew 😅 - and looking forward to being back. I'm curious... is there a time that suits you best for our group session next week?

Thanks everyone for voting and sharing thoughts — I’ve chosen 5pm as the best middle ground for energy and accessibility. The first Tuesday of the month will stay at 7pm. Replays will always be available if you can’t make it live.
Understanding Anxiety & Nervous System Safety
📽️ Recording now available in the classroom for the last live session 📽️ Reframing > Anxiety = activation, not a problem The issue = as a ‘’perceived’’ lack of felt safety Anxiety isn’t just in the mind. It’s a physiological response—your nervous system is trying to protect you. Tap through with me to allow yourself to sit with it, allow it to move, change or pass and build safety in the body.

Understanding Anxiety & Nervous System Safety
SECRET TAPPING
Hi 👋🏼 hope you’re all doing well. I’m mid trial and whilst I can’t share anything from court I can share my daily support support technique - the powerful secret tap. I’ve been using this to calm nerves before going in, before standing up in court to read the oath aloud and for when we discuss as a jury so my mind remains sharp. Finger tapping is my favourite go to when I’m in public. No one can see. Tap the ends of each finger against the tip of your thumb. It activates the meridian points in each digit, promotes calm, finds focus and gives an extra boost of peace when needed. Try it next time you’re hesitating or feel nervous and let me know what you think.

I've been called to jury service
Hi everyone — I hope your weekend is off to a good start. I’ve been called for jury service and, as of yesterday, I’ve been told it’s taking place in another town. Unfortunately, that means I won’t make it back in time for our group session. I’ll really miss being there with you live. Instead, I’ll record a session for you next week so you can tap along in your own time, and I’ll upload it to the classroom alongside the replays. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready. Wishing you all a beautiful May bank holiday weekend — and happy Beltane 🌿

@Derrin Wilkins I hoping for a very light kind of affair. Nothing too dramatic 🫣 just something curious and interesting.
