Training as we age? It’s NEVER too late!
Life is complex, humans are complex, and it’s never been easier to find distractions. Careers, family, travel, other hobbies can all overlap with the time we dedicate to ourselves and our health. For most people there’s a moment (often a health scare) where one’s mortality and lifestyle get questioned, and changes have to be made. This is the point where I’ll meet most clients. It might seem to some that their health is too far gone, and they step outside the comfort zone and ask for help. It is that point in their life when they are most ready to change, regardless of their past. When someone is looking and asking for help, they’re ready, no matter what weight, age, nationality, ethnic background, or fitness level. Whether you’re just starting out, having a difficult week, skipping workouts, missing meal preps, it’s still not too late to get back on track. Small changes make the biggest difference. And it is never too late to make a change, ESPECIALLY if you’re on the older side! Quality of life, bone health, muscle mass, tendon health, ligament health, joint health, all see VAST improvements with fairly minimal training. Glaciers melt slowly everyday, so slow you feel they aren’t moving at all… but over time they carve out the rivers, mountains, and landscapes that make up the world around you. Slowly, consistently, and when no one is looking.

Spicy Shrimp Tacos 🌶️🍤🌮
Delicious, healthy recipe that makes around 16 tacos! Ingredients: SHRIMP 🍤 - 2lbs Jumbo Shrimp (deveined, peeled) Season with: - 2 teaspoons of avocado or olive oil - 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder and smoked paprika - 1/2 teaspoon each of cumin, chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper - 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt Once seasoned: Cook in medium-high heat skillet, covered, 2-3 minutes each side SLAW🥗 Chop and combine: - 2 Cups each of green and purple cabbage Season with: - 2 tablespoons lime juice - 1/2 cup diced tomato - 1/4 cup chopped cilantro - Salt and pepper to taste SAUCE🥑 Blend together: - 2 avocados - 2 garlic cloves - 2 tablespoons lime juice - 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar - 1 tablespoon cottage cheese - 1/4 cup cilantro - 1/4 teaspoon each of cumin and red pepper flakes - Salt to taste Only thing that requires cooking is the shrimp and of you want to lightly toast the tortillas. For best tortillas use the same pan as the shrimp after they are cooked, the tortillas absorb some flavor from the seasoning and crisp up nicely. I recommend corn tortillas, they're slightly slower to digest and keep blood sugar lower than most flour tortillas.

The rest day struggle is real
Hi all — I've been struggling with rest days and I know a lot of people here have been too 😅 You stay locked in all week — workouts done, meals prepped, feeling great. Then rest day hits and suddenly you're on the couch, motivation gone, eyeing a burger 🍔. The problem isn't laziness — it's that nobody tells you what to actually do on a rest day. I spent some time working through it last week, and here's a simple way I solved it for less than $2/m: 1. Every Sunday, I text a bot my rest days for the week and my location (e.g. "Wednesday, Vancouver BC"). 2. On each rest day morning, the bot automatically finds 3 fun low-impact activities near me — hiking trails, pickup basketball, kayaking spots, community yoga, whatever's available that day. 3. I get a text by 8am with the options, a short description of each, and a Google Maps link. No planning, no decision fatigue. It's not a workout — it's just enough to keep you moving and feeling good without breaking recovery. Hiking on a rest day hits completely different when someone just hands you the trail 🥾 If anything is unclear, let me know. Hope this helps you 🙏

@John Kennedy Agreed. I prefer to just go for a walk in the neighbourhood, met some amazing people, just causal conversations.
