🧵Let's Get to Know Each Other
I thought it would be fun to start with a conversation. Tell us... What's one thing you're working through right now? Maybe you're learning how to use your sewing machine. Maybe you've never cut into fabric because you're afraid of making a mistake. Or maybe you're simply tired of buying clothes that never seem to fit quite right. Wherever you're starting from... You're in good company. Share one thing you're working on or one question you have. There's a good chance someone else here is wondering the very same thing. ❤️

I would like to be able to tailor my clothes to fit better. I too have a smaller waist compared to my hips and thighs.
👋 Welcome to Body-First Sewing!
This community is for women 40+ who want to learn to sew clothes that fit their changing bodies, reflect their personal style, and feel like themselves again. We'd love to get to know you! Please introduce yourself and tell us: 🧵 Your name 📍 Where you're from ✂️ Your sewing experience (complete beginner, returning to sewing, or somewhere in between) 👗 What's one thing you'd love to sew for yourself? 💛 What's your biggest sewing challenge right now? Be sure to check out the Calendar tab for upcoming live events, Sewing Labs, and community activities. We're just getting started, and I'm so happy you're here. New lessons, conversations, and resources will be added regularly as we grow together. Welcome—I can't wait to get to know you! ❤️

Hi. I’m Roseann. I live in New York - in the Long Island area. I took sewing classes at my Singer store when I was in the 8th grade and it gave me a framework of how to sew. Back then I made simple pieces-skirts, blouses and one in awhile pants to match my top. But fitting pants is a nightmare. I stopped sewing for many years and every once in awhile I’d pull out my machine. It was tucked away until Covid. I pulled out my machine to make masks. But I still consider myself a beginner sewist cause I only really know the basics. I’m so looking forward to meeting everyone.
