Hey Google
I have an Android Phone (but I'm sure this works the same way with the Siri feature on iPhones) I have made my list of Senior Communities to dial. I dread each dial because cold calling is WAYYYYYY out of my comfort zone BUT one little trick that is helping me is that I have set up "Google Assistant" on my Android phone. (Newer models have Gemini as the Assistant feature) I can simply be hands free and say "Hey Google - Dial 615-300-2751" and it says "Sure - Dialing 615-300-2751". The point is that it's so much easier, faster and 100% accurate when I'm staring at an intimidating list of numbers to dial. The process has removed some of my apprehension and made the deed less painful. Just thought I'd share...

You could write out a short script so that you don't miss anything and it might also help with the nerves to practise a few times, or have it as steps something like step 1 say hello introduce yourself and ask to speak to the actives coordinator {or equivalent} if there available go to step 2 if not available go to step 3 step 2 speak to the AC ....... step 3 Ask when you might be able to call them get there name and contact information This is just a rough example but having it written down might help. In the UK there are several Face book groups for Care home entertainers and AC. Performers advertise and the AC also use the page to find performers often requiring people at short notice due to cancellations
You Are My Sunshine
I finally just added "You Are My Sunshine" to my song list. man— those verses are sad. until I actually perform it—I'll take y'all's word that it's a hit with seniors. Thanks & Best, -Jim

so Joe I had a little go on my resonator guitar playing it with minors AM DM and EM singing it flat it sounds pretty good I think I will learn that for the next open mic night something out of the blue or left field as they say over the pond
Patience
I am struggling with my need to be patient with myself as I improve my skills to the point where I can perform and play my guitar. I sing well, but my playing ability is still "in development." I regret all the years I tinkered with the guitar, got frustrated and stopped playing. Had I kept going then, I would be so much further along now. Today I tell myself to have faith in the process. Even though it might not seem like I'm improving, hopefully I actually am. I see all the wonderful things that I could do with my guitar, all the beautiful songs I could share with others and the positive energy and joy I could bring, and I just sigh. I know I have to keep plugging along and one day I'll get there. I'm so inspired by Chris and so many others in this community who are actively playing, and I'm grateful to Chris for making a space for us all. I wonder if, out of the 50 or so other members here, is there anyone else who can relate? I would love to hear what you have to say. 💕

Its easy to fall in to the trap of comparing yourself to others your journey is your journey I don't consider myself good. and every one makes mistakes most of the time know one notices, why not play for friends and family or a friendly open mic I am sure you will do just fine most importantly you want to do this and have the passion.

I was also thinking about Spirit in the sky by Norma Greenbaum but I don't know if the lyric are suitable eg " Going on up to the spirit int he sky , that where I want to go when I die" could that cause offence or upset?
