New Member Greetings! (Feb 1, 2026)
Got kinda swamped this week so this is a day late, but I'm persisting regardless! Please greet our new members (obviously some of you have been active already, but everyone gets one anyway): @Kexxie Wolf, lone wolf teacher sharing human, AI free life stories with comedy and drama. @Kaysea Eckel, language lover fascinated by linguistics and exploring new ideas on the page. @Elizabeth Molloy, starting a blog and experimenting with personal stories alongside digital marketing life. @Todd Crawford, working on a collection of short stories and poetry between fishing adventures. @Juan Montero, exploring poetry and learning to shape feelings into simple, honest lines. @Matilda Morril, experimenting with different forms and treating life like an open book. @Aliscia Reed, sharing faith filled poetry and learning how her words connect with people. @Crystal Kroupa, exploring stories of perseverance and reminding us every chapter can still change. @Nur Uddin Mahmud Tareq, content creator honing professional articles and leveling up a growing creative career. @Clare Naden, Kiwi in France who covers tech and science by day and tackles a first novel. @Francesco Dj, exploring academic projects and curious about how AI shapes stories and language. @Erica Jong, a novelist still exploring desire, freedom, identity, and women’s inner lives on the page. @Antoinette Bullard, poet and sensitive artist bringing raw, personal pieces to the circle. @Abagail Dietiker, brewing a zombie novel alongside herbs, healing, and homestead life. @Cyndi Maureen, author here to share stories and see where the next project leads.

Good to have you guys.
Mini Writing Lesson
One small writing tip that helped me: Before I start a story, I always ask, "What problem will my characters have to solve?" It keeps the story moving. What question do you ask yourself before you write?

@Jim DeVivo I really like this perspective. Breaking things down into small, clear moments makes the story feel more natural and easier to connect with. It also helps everything flow without feeling forced.
Writing Struggles = Connection
What’s your biggest struggle with daily writing right now? A) Finding time B) Staying consistent C) Overthinking every line D) Starting but not finishing E) All of the above 😅 Pick one and share what’s behind it 👇

@Gabriel Xantalos That’s a real struggle. Protecting writing time is harder than finding it. For me, the biggest struggle is showing up every day, even when the words feel slow.

@Elizabeth Mays That takes serious dedication. Teaching all day and still making time to write isn’t easy. Respect to you for finding a way to keep going
January Buddy Challenge! Write Together, It's More Fun
Happy New Year! Let's kick off 2026 by weaponizing friendly competition and accountability. I'll keep this as simple as possible. FIRST Find a buddy! Just comment here saying 'looking for a buddy', OR reply to someone else's comment to pair up. Optional: Pick a cool team name. - If you do want, you can participate solo too and use the whole group as your sorta-buddy - THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT, YOU CAN JOIN ON JAN 31ST IF YOU WANT SECOND Individually decide, with your buddy, what each of you would like to accomplish in January. Your goals don't have to be the same, and there's no minimum! Pick something you'd genuinely like to do by Jan. 31st that is realistically achievable. For example: - Write minimum 15 mins 3x/week - Finish a short story/chapter/poem - Write X words over the month - Sit down to write 1x/week (EVEN IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE) THIRD Decide how you'll keep each other accountable! Do you want your buddy to ping you every 3 days? Will they look at summaries of your stuff every week (not even necessarily review, just 'here's what I did')? Bounce ideas off each other? - The rule here: If it works to keep you going when motivation wanes (and doesn't turn into a second job), it's valid. FOURTH That's it! I'll ping all the participants every Sunday and check how things are going, and then at the end of January, we'll all celebrate our wins and share what we worked on (either showing the work itself, or just sharing your progress if you'd rather keep the writing itself private)! So yeah, comment below with 'looking for a buddy' if you wanna join! I'll help pair people up if need be, and hell, I could use one myself :P

Looking for a buddy. I love this idea. Writing is always better with support and a little accountability. Happy to team up with someone and set simple, realistic goals for January.

@Elizabeth Mays It's also nice to meet you!
Flash fiction
Hey all! I’m Dee. I write strange weird short stories that always happen to be about the same character but in different lifetimes. (I've been told my writing style is "flash fiction".) Right now I’m working on aforementioned stories. I joined this group to learn from others perspectives, and maybe, hopefully, figure out where to go with my stories.

Hi Dee, welcome! That’s a really unique and engaging idea. One character across different lifetimes is a powerful framework for flash fiction. It’s great you’re here to learn and explore new directions for your work. Looking forward to reading your stories and seeing how they evolve.
