Who are you?
Hey everyone! 👋 This is our official "get to know each other" post for the whole group. Jump into the comments and tell us about yourself! (no pressure of course) Here's a few ideas to get started: - What got you into community building and is that what you do for a living? - What do you love to do in your free time? - What are you super proud of and why? - Feel free to link to your website, community, or lu.ma etc calendar Quick note: We want to get to know YOU as a person, so please focus your answer on, well, you! After you introduce yourself, scroll through and check out what others have shared. Leave some replies and connect with people - that's what this is all about! Can't wait to meet you all properly! 🙂 (my answers are in the comments!) Cheers, Matt

@Victorious Thompson Thanks for the kind words! Curious about that em dash (—). Did you use AI for that response? Don't care either way, just curious
What's on your mind?
Getting to hang out in person prompted some great questions for us yesterday. One simple question opened up the floor for us to get tactical together about what other community builders here in ATX were dealing with when trying to grow/scale their efforts. The point of this community is to help broaden perspectives and connect with others on the same journey. Chances are whatever it is we're dealing with has been a solved problem unless if defies the laws of physics or comes very close, like this cat here. So what has been on your mind that you're trying to solve?

@Brandon Mehrgut One thing that I've used to get feedback (if they ignore my initial message and call) is offering a $10 Starbucks/Amazon gift card for taking the call and just giving honest thoughts. It works really well and I've been able to salvage multiple memberships along with getting killer feedback

@Brandon Mehrgut What do you mean by insensitive? 1 manage 3 communities, the biggest all paid one has 20 members paying between $310 - $2000/month Here's a version of one of the templates I use. Personalize as much as you can if you've interacted with them/know them a bit better: "Hey [Name], I’m working on making the group as valuable as possible, and your feedback would really help. Since you left, I'm sure you can see things I can’t. If you’re open to sharing a few honest thoughts on what didn’t work for you, I’ll shoot you a $10 Gift card for whatever you want (Amazon, Starbucks, etc) as a MASSIVE thank-you. Fair?"
