Day 6/7- 14 day creative flow challenge: Art is life, and LIFE IS ART
Do you feel alive? Or do you find yourself moving from one day to the next and they all begin to blur together? The way us artists stay inspired is to live a life that inspires us. Where the art just becomes a product of our experiences, perspective and expression. So if your practice/life is feeling a little dull or uninspiring... go LIVE. And look at your world around you (your sacred space you reside in).. does it inspire you? does your life feel like one big ongoing masterpiece? Making art is actually a small fraction of what being an artist really is. It's the living, the stories, and our presence in the world that attunes us to receive the download to create with it. Go live today. And see how that effects your creativity 🖤

Day 5 - 14 day creative flow challenge: normalizing your creative time
your creative time isn’t something necessarily special. It’s sacred for sure. But also completely normal. Sometimes we can build the anticipation. Or make making art be this big mind blowing thing. It’s like this crescendo. A huge build up only to remind us that it wasn’t a big crazy deal to just sit down and create Which is what makes us believe that working on our stuff is going to take so much time, effort, mind power, physical power.. that we need to be in the right mood, have the right amount of time… When the truth is that it’s actually very normal for you to be taking the time to make art. It’s actually very normal for you to put everything else down for a moment to be present with your creativity. It’s actually very normal to work on something that has no direct ROI or outcome. It’s actually very normal and human to desire to create because it’s what we were made for. I was feeling some resistance earlier and next thing I knew, (after organizing some messy files to make the process even easier).. I was in flow working on a song and having a great time. Then I thought “oh, this feels so normal” I didn’t have to “get into flow” I just allowed it. I just embodied my work. This is my life. And that is art too. So, slow down. Take a moment and normalize this practice. Lose yourself a little in the making of. It’s not a big deal. But it means the world.

I’m learning about myself more these days and specifically around my neurodivergence and ADHD and found the tip of starting with small tasks to complete that are related to the task I actually want to focus on is what’s best for me. If I don’t have a distracting environment then I can just jump in to doing that with art/creative projects but if my desk and office is messy for example I have a hard time switching between organize mode and then to create mode. But I’m working on preparing my environment in separate times so that for create mode I do things like do a few lil sketches, set up my desk nice, light a candle, put some music on.. ritualize it specifically for drawing (that’s what I’m focusing on rn). But I also very much have been seeing how I get creative all throughout my day in other ways, and am celebrating seeing those “proof” moments of my creativity being unleashed all over the place in my life :)
Day 3 - creative flow challenge: where are you negotiating?
This morning I began negotiate with myself. I felt that my body really needed more sleep especially since I have a lot going on today. I did let myself get more sleep but on one condition- where does my creative session fit in, and do I promise to do everything to protect that time? Even if it’s in the smallest way. So right now I’m at my side job in the bus ride to the location. This is where my 5 minute rule comes in handy. Since I didn’t do it before I left out the door, I can do some writing in the car on my phone instead of scrolling. Then, I also want to have a session in my studio later this evening. That one I will have to have some serious boundaries to achieve. It’s non-negotiable. This is where most people slip, and for good reason. Their partner or friends want to hang out, watch movies, or go party etc. And I’m ALL for living your life. But if you already made a promise to yourself, you have to let them know too. You’re not responsible for others’ emotions here. Because the truth is the person you’re letting down the most is you. Protect your time. And don’t let your inner negotiator take the wheel.

yeeeee <3 basically on point with my comments from the last day! feeling this! building self-trust is my MAIN goal across the board rn so the 5 min rule is already being applied across the board and is helping a lot. i notice though i dont yet feel safe to fully unleash the creative beast lol coz i have "so much work to do" which is an excuse. so, working on it!

love this share, tyty! i definitely can see some patterns emerge of being too busy and finding other things to do, but I also have not been taking intentional rest time so seriously so what I've done is allow myself to sleep a bit more and NOT smoke any cannabis before bed and it's been helping (i've been doing that for a couple of weeks now). next is adding in more creative time, but without cannabis, coz that's also a false belief I notice I am tied to: creativity only comes when I smoke... so trying the little increments of 5 mins here and there has been helpful :) will share some pics!

tysm! loooove love florence, been listening to her show several times a week lately and find it very supportive to whats going on in my head and heart, so i love that you brought that in here! I am currently looking at my energy cycles and starting a new "job" and how this affects my availability. I have a lot of "work" stuff to draw/design and I'm trying to incorporate my love and self expression in it while honoring the desires of my clients.
